Farewell Bandit Empty Farewell Bandit

Post  gus Sat 19 Apr 2014, 9:43 am

Greetings Sv 650 (1999 ,gen 1 ,93,ooo kls silent  )
It arrived Thursday arvo , I had seen it before but had not taken a LOT of notice .. Seeing I had exchanged it for my bandit and $2000 it was nice to see it being ridden in and not on the back of a ute .I'm yet to ride it .
As usual in 5 mins I was pulling it apart .
Fairing off ,all wiring nicely cable tied in place .No corrosion ,no cracks in fairing ,no welded bolts .Looks like someone has cared for this bike (I hope )
Paint fork legs silver ,check fork oil height , polish rim , clean brake pistons (bad) new brake fluid , check stearing head bearings ..Check air filter (k@n) ,check plugs ,coolant ,all good.
Polish rear wheel ,adjust new chain (waaaaaaay loose ) Clean  rear shock (looks tired )
Spend 3 hrs changing fury bolts over to stainless allen heads .(I keep a stash of them )
Oil change today with filter .
Over all its in great nic except for maybe the shock .Sounds fantastic as any 90deg motor does with a Yoshi . can .

A mate from work moved over here from the Green Isle part of the UK about 5 years ago, he last bike in the UK was exactly the same as that one, from what he has said he loved every minute he had it (he also had it's bigger brother before that and like it even more than the 650)

My son is after a SV650. He'll be pleased to hear they're still going at 93,000km.
If its the original shock its well and truly shagged at those km.

Kwaka Zx636r or Zx10 shocks seem to be the shock of choice for bolt up budget replacement, according to the interweb.
Linear springs and emulators up front.

Gus, I see your yank cousin had to have one last Farewell Bandit Smiley-angry026.

Oh well, don't suppose you'll be getting a xmas card from him this year.
