Storm Handlebar Guards
Fitted the STORM handguards on the weekend and took it for a spin.
10 mins and they were on and I didn't have to move any of the other controls.
Only issue is at full lock when manouvering in the garage when they touch the front fairing, but that's no biggie!
I could feel the difference in temperature as there was no wind blast on the knuckles whatsoever. I think they'll be good in the winter and the rain! It may negate the need for heated grips.
Well worth the $140 I got them for.

Can you still lock the steering? I couldn't on my GS

I fitted my handguards for my trip to Tasi. (leaving next Sat ) Not for the cold but for Rain protection on leather gloves .You can ride for ages with your
gloves not getting wet , just don't stop or water runs down your arm .

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
Not sure about the steering lock, I'd say so as it's only the last little turn that they start to touch, they do flex and i think the lock would be right to engage.
I'll have to check that on the next ride.
Thanks for thinking of that one.

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
Barkbusters have newly released hand guards with ridged fabric (BBZ-01) for $125.
http://www.barkbusters.net/media/new-bbz-01-handguard.html
So at full lock they flex when touching the fairings.
Problem solved!
They are made for "blizzard" conditions.....I'm thinking I wont even need heated grips with these in winter.

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
thanks for that - i'll get some. although you dont have to move switches etc do you? i have developed this lovely thing called Reynauds phenomenon [which usually affects females] but what happens is the arteries in your fingers go into a spasm when they get cold and no blood circulates in them [and they go totally numb]. it's also called 'dead finger' for patently obvious reasons when you see the effect it has.
is this the one?

with these ones did you get the S1 or the S5? the S1 has a mounting on the bar and the S5 goes in the bar endpotatomasher wrote:Truck bandit wrote:Fitted the STORM handguards on the weekend and took it for a spin.

I got the S1 and it fits easily inside the clutch and brake reservoir mounts, with no need to shift them. It needs 18mm of straight bar , not bent, to attach.
You can adjust the width of the plastic shield and i have mine on the narrower setting. There are basically 2 different screw positions you attach the shield to the bracket.
All in all i was done in 10 mins and adjusted them after my first ride so the wind went over my wrists and fingers and that was it.
No more wet gloves in the rain, no more rocks or bugs smacking you in the knuckles, as I tested out very well on the way to the Island for the superbikes.
Money well spent.
I'm thinking in winter i'll wear the same gloves and have a thin pair of inners aswell to keep my hands toasty.

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
i cant tell from your pic - what sort of bandit do you have? mines a K9 SA with the half fairing. im wondering if there might not be enough room to lock the steering. i dont mind if the guard presses against the fairing though when locked

The S1 was what I had on my gsx and at steeering lock the hand guard just touched on the tank but it was no big downer> I really enjoyed those hand guards. I think you will like them Steve, hot grips can fail on you, these guards won't.

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
Wow, they look toasty and warm.
Almost blizzard proof.
No more numb fingers for me, I think i might purchase some.
Do they have lambs wool lining inside?
You could even work up sweaty palms in them!!!

I keep overgloves on the bike, easy to slip on and keep you dry & warm work good with heated grips and only $70.

Re: Storm Handlebar Guards
Very easy to fit (and to remove for summer)
They don't have wool inside and I'm sure they will be great once the weather cools down.
I expect I won't even need heated grips with these.
