LED inserts for DL1000 guards on GSF1250SA
I have DL1000 guards on my GSF1250 and always liked the look of the Acerbis guards with the LED inserts. I decided to be creative and scored some cheap LED daylight running lights from EBay for AUD$12.28. Here's the link:

I bought a cheap handlebar switch from the local bike shop and mounted them to the DL1000 guards. Easy fit, extremely bright and much more visible. The first pic is with the things turned off.

Answer re handguard LED's from "Currently Wrecking post"
I got the flexible waterproof strips off eBay - I think it was from here, I've had them about 12 months - eBay seller
The cheap-ass double-sided tape they supply couldn't hold the strips flat on the handguards, I even tried to get as much bend out by heating them but they still wanted to curve up.
So I came up with this idea to use better double-sdied tape and some copper wire (single strand) to "fence tie" them to the handguards, you don't really see the inner part of the guard so I haven't tided it up since I first rigged them up and so far they've been on for 5,000kms (approx 8 months) and no sign of them moving. You have to look pretty close at the Led strips to see the copper wire. There has been no water ingress into the lights, the wire is threaded through the "lip" of unit, the wire hasn't corroded or discoloured either.
They worked out pretty good for a $12 set.

something similar but they were cheap LEDs and water got in and one
failed quite rapidly, so I am after something half decent.

This looks like a very nice set-up Kewwig.
Can you please tell me a bit more about the DL1000 guards thanks?
They look like perfect fit. Was it tricky fitting them?
Cheers GG

I have a full write up on my blog at:
http://kewwibike.blogspot.co.nz/2011/06/i-have-just-fitted-v-strom-hand-guards.html
See also:http://kewwibike.blogspot.co.nz/2012/09/fitting-barbacks-to-gsf1250-bandit.html
They fit well but will touch the fairing at full lock (you can lock the steering but it's not ideal). I fixed this with barbacks that made the ride more comfortable too. Going through a Wellington winter and riding in storms makes them worth every cent, especially when combined with heated grips.

Thanks for this Kewwig. Are Barry's red ones the same as yours (DL650+1000) do you reckon?

Mine were the 650 set with the cut down clutch side. I think if I was to do it again I would do the same as Kewwig and use the left 1000 guard. There is a little touch between the guards and the fairing/screen on full lock, but its liveable considering the benefit.
Unfortunately you can't buy a 1000 kit, hence why it is recommended to get the 650 kit plus the left 1000 guard. From memory there is another bolt or two to purchase from Suzuki as well, I am sure it is mentioned in Kewwigs blog.
The blog has most of what you need, but if you like I can PM you a Word Doc I compiled with a bunch of photos and info from from other Bandit forum sites (includes where to cut the left 650 guard).
