Phillip Is - WSBK 2013
Anyone thinking of heading down to PI for WSBK (last weekend of Feb)? I am planning to be there Sunday, hopefully by bike but may end up being via XR6.

I'm going for a ride with the usual suspects but we're stopping short of going to the Island. We are basing ourselves at Mt Beauty for a couple of days. Maybe we will cross paths.

I look like doing a bit of a bullet run down from Bega on Saturday Peter so will most likely not be catching up with you unless you happen to be going to Mt Beauty via Omea, Hotham, Bright, etc.
Cheers

Hi Peter,
I can't recommend highly enough the hotel / motel at Harrietville if you're in that area. I stayed there about 4 weeks ago. Top place, gourme food, & most importantly icy cold beer.

Thanks Guys. I will remember Harrietville for next time, we have locked in The Loaded Dog for 20th and 23rd and Mt Beauty Holiday Park for 21st and 22nd. Wangaratta is closer than I thought but when you're in a group you have to go with the majority, still you never know....

So what is your choice of weapon for this wee jaunt down south R/C?
Bandit or Strom? Hmmm, tough choice

VStrom! Bandit is semi retired, besides I've just added a nice new Givi V46 topbox for my undies.

Well, I couldn't find a riding buddy to pair up with () so it's me and the missus in the XR6. Just going down for the racing on Sunday then return to Canberra on Monday. If anyone's going to be at the track and wants to give me a call just PM me and I'll pass on the mobile number.

Not with the Bandit Paul - I'd have to carry a small stool so she could get on and off! She had knee surgery some years ago for a suspected melenoma which is quite an impairment.

Re: Phillip Is - WSBK 2013
A quick post race report -
Positives:
- great racing including the Aust Supersport race
- smallish crowd, so easy to get good track views (we sat down near turn 1 at the end of the main straight - also had good views straight over to Turn 4) where Checa tailboned Milandri in the first race (that bit isn't a positive).
- Aprilia got off to a blinder and look unbeatable - even without Biaggi
- exiting the Island was pretty easy - provided you didn't take the direct paddock exit to the road - if I had, I'd still be there!
- fabulous array of bikes in the spectator's paddocks - including some Bandits
Negatives:
- Poor scheduling/time management - missed the Aust Superbike race because they rescheduled it to be after WSBK Race 2 rather than before it, as per the program. With a 1.5hr lunch break they could have easily avoided this problem. We couldn't hand around because we had to get going. Not good enough for having paid $90 gate entry.
- No Suzuki stand in the main pavillion () - is this a message from Suzuki? They had a stand there the previous two years.
- Audio commentary - utter rubbish - get some professionals in please. On two occasions the commentary didn't even pick up crucial 1-2-3 place changes for at least half a lap, let alone simple basics like who was in 3rd, 4th, etc.
So, some attention to detail Dorna and I'll be happy to come back.
