Delkevic Headers Installed
First topic message reminder :
Up and out into the shed at 5am this morning. Bugger this Heat Wave. Everything went pretty smoothly. I think I only swore once....or twice. The Delkevic kit is very good. Nice welds and bends. Simple to follow instructions. All you need included. Header gaskets, silicon goo, springs, and a spring puller. The collection pipe comes with the threaded hole to fit the O2 sensor back in. I have done this as the O2 sensor eliminator that I have ordered has not arrived yet. The weight difference is HUGE ! Christ that original set up is heavy. Saves me going on a New Years diet. . Only took me about 2 hours to complete the fit. No leaks and a much deeper note than before. As I have said before. Great kit. If you are contemplating new headers. These are a fantastic buy at the price. And by the way. Only took SEVEN days to arrive. Heres a couple of pics: Test ride: WoW. Even with just the old O2 sensor reinstalled the difference is enormous. Feels and sounds great. I think I will put her on a Dyno soon .

Putting on all pipe to pipe joins. To form an air tight seal.

How the colour of them looking Hammy .
Light gold with a touch of blueing at tthe top of the headers. They still sound great though.
A trick from my old days on Nortons - wrap copper wire (strip house hold flex) as close to the headers/exhaust port as possible. This stops them going blue. Why? no idea.

Thanks for the tip. Will give it a try.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
That's a shame, they looked like they were going to be a nice set of headers.
Strange it doesn't fit, I know with my Arrows things looked a little off until I had them all loose fitted on the bike and then they sort of twisted into the correct angles and everything lined up to where it was suppose to be.

Not sure I want to go that route though. First thing would be to see if I can get the Delkevic to fit.
I bought a set of Dale Walker's headers for my 1200. I ordered a full exhaust with a fair few other goodies from him and it all came in one box, with the headers in one piece. The only trouble I had was Aussie customs stung me for an extra $230 and held the package for two weeks because it was over the $1000 import threshold. I think the freight cost was about us$160. Unfortunately it is a real pain to order anything from Dale Walker, but the quality is right up there.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
This thread has convinced me that the Arrow headers are the correct choice for when I do this in a few months. Not much more expensive and they look very nice.

If the next downpipe doesn't fit, I will likely look closer at Dale Walkers kit.
A mate ordered Dale's kit and I fitted them for him. Easy instal and bloody well made. He was happy and I was covetous.

USPS apparently have a parcel limit size now according to Dale.
That's pretty much what made the decision for the Arrows.

Downside is that it is very loose in the collector, unlike the other three which are quite a close fit.
Will be having a go at fitting after the weekend. Bike will be parked up in the family room .
@Hammy apologies for hijacking your thread mate
No prob. I have been following your progress. It hurts abit when I had such a good experience with delkevic, then to see someone else have such a rough trip. Hope it all works out and the wait is worth it.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
That would piss me off big time - especially since it appears that the problem is not consistent. Any chance you can send the lot back for a refund?

Mate I also hope they give you a full refund. Send him a couple of photos. What a complete pain in the arse.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
You should be able to get a refund on that without even sending it back. It is a product that either fits or it doesn't. I can't imagine Delkevic being too impressed with their supplier if the product is being manufactured with such poor quality control.
Send a few photos and see what they say.

crimsondawn wrote:..... They were almost a size for size fit and extremely hard to insert.
The replacement downpipe on the other hand, is loose within the collector.....
Is it possible that the first three headers are all from a kit for another bike?

No harm in trying.
I'd say he would be pretty keen to sort this out because this thread will be the first thing that comes up when people search for Delkevic Bandit headers.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
Mate ! What a bloody drama. I cannot imagine the toughts you are having. I'm guessing that the asian manufacturer has outsourced the work to some dip shit that doesn't know what they are doing. As I have stated before. My kit was perfect. Could not fault it. Very sorry that they have done the dirty on you. Hope you get some satisfaction.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
CD, 3 of the 4 of mine were perfect like a hand in glove, slight wriggle to slide in as you would expect. but 1 of them was a bloody drama as some dipshit at the factory had dropped it creating a big flatspot but thought f**k it I'll post it anyway and hope he can get it to fit. I managed to get a hammer inside and bend it back to nearly round and it has worked out ok, but I was pissed off that they would even send it. I didn't mention it earlier as I treated it as an over sight by some 15yo kid who's probably on 50c and 2 bowls of rice a day and I didn't want to cause any grief for Delkevic. But the cats out of the bag now and Im bloody annoyed that you have gone through all this trouble as I am one of the blokes who recommended them. Ron should be sending you a brand new set and a full refund as he stands to lose a hell of a lot more than that once people read this forum. Again, good luck, you deserve some. Regards Jim.

Ron should be made aware that he has already lost one sale for fucking you about so much and not sending an instant replacement - I won't buy from him. I wonder how many sales this will lose him.

As a moderator here, I say feel free to use the forum to your advantage to try and get a better response. This site ranks surprisingly highly for Bandit related product discussion and this thread will be noticed by potential customers.
It is one thing to supply low quality products (ie. you get what you pay for), but it is something else to sell products that are not fit for purpose.

Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
There's a lot to be said for decatting the original headers after reading this thread.
Re: Delkevic Headers Installed
They were/are a very neat, tight fit. The last one was the hardest to get in. Everythjng lined up perfect. I think they have given you the wrong downpipes.crimsondawn wrote:I am just frustrated in having to re-fit my OEM pipe every time the Del's do not fit. I only ride the bike on the weekend, so obviously want it running. The OEM will be going back on today after work and I will take the Del's to work with me on Monday so I can have the alteration done. There is a place down the road from work that we use and he has offered to do it for free.
Out of interest Hammy, what was the fit like with your 4 downpipes into the collector? Were they loose, or did you have to wriggle and twist them into position?
