Re: nsw greenslip
yeah thats about as cheap as your going to get it. Mines nearly 900 i think for a k9 1250.
I wish i could get full comp for that though. I pay 400 for third party.
Green slip in Compulsory Third Party Personal Insurance. And Gus, as far as anybody can tell, thats exactly that its for.

WOW, Qld rego including the CTP is $416, full comp for me is another $250. Guess I'm never going to live in NSW with 3 bikes to register.

Re: nsw greenslip
what a massive stich up, my R1 is only $477
but my 96model bandit I ride maybe 10 times a year thats worth about 3k is $780...... you would think with the current gridlock they would be encouraging motorcycle ownership.
outraged.

Re: nsw greenslip
Just moved to Tassy, costs not as cheap as Qld, but better than Canberra:
ACT 2011/12 CTPI 474.00 Rego Fees 104.00, Total 588.00
ACT 2012/13 CTPI 520.80 Rego Fees 117.30, Total 638.10
Tas 2012/13 MAIB 442.00 Rego Fees 144.75, Total 586.75 (but that includes $20 Stamp Duty that I think is a one off for 1st time rego).
Tas also stopped rego labels as of Sep this year, seems to be a catching fad.

Re: nsw greenslip
Lads, (and Ladettes), my Duc was only $15 for "Rego" up here in the wonderful NT, but boy oh boy do they hit you for the Compulsory third Party Insurance - which was $730 or so.
the new GSX1250 was about the same I think. I paid just over $1,000 for the 12 Months rego and Stamp Duty when I bought the bike 3 weeks ago. I think it will be around the $760 per year - although NT Gov't have just increased charges for everything including "Rego".
All the States and Territories are cranking up the big bike costs. Anything over about 250cc is just ridiculous!
Cheers

Interesting:
I just checked here http://prices.maa.nsw.gov.au and got the following for a 2002 1200 Bandit registered in country NSW, for a 47 year old rider. No at fault accidents and 0 points.

Re: nsw greenslip
Country NSW get a better rate than city dwellers, insurance companies in NSW seem to think there is more of a risk in claiming 3rd party in the Sydney city areas, the 1250's are in the highest rate scale for some fucked up reason. I would have thought the 749cc to 1000cc bracket would have been the most expensive in regards to risk as the riders generally are your Casey wannabes.

Re: nsw greenslip
half the problem is that some muppet with no experience of bikes classified the GSX1250 when it was introduced in the same category as a fire blade. From discussion i had with an underwriter they all thought it was going to replace the GSX1000????? Once the bike was classified however they did not reclassify it as a Bandit, once the dust had settled and it was found out that this was just another variation on the Bandit. This unfortunately had a negative impact on all bandits i.e. insurance companies had an excuse to re classify all bandits hence the massive price hike in rego across the range in NSW.
It is just a money grabbing scheme nothing more.

Re: nsw greenslip
Ok, the reason that the price of a CTP for a 1200+ cc bike being so high is because they are the ones most likely to carry pillions, and it is the pillion that claims against the CTP, not necessarily the rider.
Also, for the comment re city vs country, I'm sorry but there is a far greater chance of a THIRD party claiming in the city, in the country most accidents involving motorcycles involve one vehicle, the motorcycle).

WOW thats cheap Badger!! I can't see Wagga being more dangerous than the Shire to ride around??
Have you got fully comp with GIO? Thats probably where the difference lies. If F/comp is say $240 &
G/slip is $388 thats the same price fully insured. Its a no brainer really. Cheers mate, I'll go into GIO
office tomorrow.

So it bloody should! You " oldies " should be terrorising me on the footpath with your scooters, not riding
powerful motorcycles. Well theres something NOT to look forward to Baz. What a joke.
I've Emailed Allianz and given them an absolute serve, not that they will give a shit. I told them I'll be
writing a letter to the ACCC. That should scare 'em, they've got Woolies and Coles shakin' in their boots.

Prices on the central coast
Don't just work with http://prices.maa.nsw.gov.au/
Also try http://www.greenslips.com.au/calculator.html
You can see a difference between the two sites, using the same insurers and the same details

My bikes comprehensive insurance is with Swann, $317.00 for $7725.00 cover. It's the only cover I have with them.
I only have the one green slip which is for the bike with GIO so no discounts.
