Grip Puppies
So after almost 5 years I finally got jack of the small diameter hand grips on the B1250 and ordered a pair from http://www.andystrapz.com/ After checking what I could get them from overseas for I went local and checked out his website then put a call through to Andy (Yes he does answer the phone) $29 + $7 and I had them the next day.
They’re a tighter fit than I was expecting but that’s a good thing. I took the bar end weights off but probably didn’t need too. I also didn’t need to cut them to length I just pushed them all the way on. Let the soapy water dry and took the FZ1 (bigger grips) for a sprint
My first ride was this morning and I’m impressed with the increased diameter. The grips feel nice and chunky now under my gorilla hands. I think I feel slightly less “connected” but that should be right once I’m used to the new feel. They shouldn’t come lose or slip but time will tell.
Yes $30 odd is a lot to pay for a couple of foam rubber tubes but whoever said riding a bike was cheap
Here's a pic.

Your new grips
How do you think they will go in hot weather? Would they eventually fade and rot, like my Total Gym XLI grips did? ( ok so thats a piece of gym equipment, in the garage with the bikes, so if that shit happens to the gym handles, hows the bike grip gonna go?)

The Grip Puppies brand grips claim to be UV stabilised. Apparently they don’t absorb water either. they’re soft to feel but you wouldn’t call them spongy. My bike is in a shed at home and at work so weather shouldn’t be a problem. They really make the grips a nice size for my hands. I didn’t get them for any vibration issues but they would help there too if you had a vibey grip.
Grippy Grips
I read about them on an Andy Strapz brochure I found amongst all the literature from a Motorcycle Expo, and thought they sounded good. I seem to have larger hands than most women ( I buy men's gloves) so perhaps I'll put them on wishlist for next month.

Sounds like a plan. Follow the instructions and they take 5 min total.
They will start to peel the grip back on its self so keep an eye on that. It’s good that they’re that tight though.
Re: Grip Puppies

I took the long way home tonight and I like the puppies even more.
I need to compare the grip size to the FZ now. It might feel funny switching between bikes. The FZ weren't as small but they are smaller now. Might have to buy another pair now
Re: Grip Puppies
There is something felic about that pic ,even worse after you fit them .

I had a pair of the cheaper version of these on my last bike which still lasted a few years & even then it was only the throttle grip where my thumb rubs which started to wear / it will be interesting to see how these fare up

Re: Grip Puppies
Was a little naughty on the internet tonight and spent more money on the bike, as you do....
One of my guys at work has a pair of Grip Puppies on his R1200RT and I was a little dubious of them. He has just come back from a huge ride round the South Island and swears by them. So hey willing to give them a try and see how they go. I was told the open the grip up a little and take the tension off the tendons. The back of my hands were getting tired after long rides so hope this helps.

Re: Grip Puppies
Grip puppies were the first thing I bought for my bandit.
I was used to riding my old bonnie with 1" bars and heated hand grips and when I got the bandit it felt like my hands were cramping on the smaller bars.
Love the grip puppies.

OMG - I'm starting to Sweat!!
(I had some on my old 96 GsxF and they felt comfortable... now with the Bandit and heated grips I didn't even consider them as I thought the grips wouldn't heat through the sponge in winter?)

Re: Grip Puppies
I fitted the Grip Puppies straight away to the new Bandit. Wasn't keen on the standard grips. They're very comfortable.
They are made out of long-lasting compound and can be used over grip warmers (I am yet to fit), though I reckon the grips will take a while to warm up.
Does any other Bandit have the puppies fitted over grip warmers?
Thanks.

Re: Grip Puppies
I have mine over Oxford Sport heated grips. The heating works just fine, but lots of hard work, soapy water and swearing to fit as the Oxfords are grippy and slightly thicker than OEM

Re: Grip Puppies
Thanks Kewwig.
I have been reviewing the hot grips and not sure which ones to go with. There is a set made by Kimpex that are basically the eletric bits only - heat foils, no grips. Anyway that is for another day. Not cold enough for then yet. But will try to fit G Puppies over the top whatever I heaters I get.
Cheers, GG

Re: Grip Puppies
btw 2wheelsagain, are your handlebars standard?
May be just the angle in your pic, but they look possibly a bit higher than the standard bars.

Mate, go Oxford Sport. They look good, heat up well and the grips themselves are great. Simple instal, and the controller bolts to the clutch mount. The second electronic box fits perfectly on the back of the fuse box under the left side cover, so it's virtually invisible. You can shop around for good prices. I just got some for NZD $85, which is great as they retail here around NZD$125.
I live in Wellington, and the grips handle a cold Wellington winter well.

Re: Grip Puppies
Thanks Kewwig, the Oxfords seem to be the most widely used heated grips as far as I can tell.
Although I see there have been a few probs with the switch.....
But there don't seem to be many other options on the market. So I think I''ll give the Oxfords a go. I can currently get the "Sports" fpr $109 + post.
