Bruxner Highway. Empty Bruxner Highway.

Post  Hammy Thu 28 Jun 2012, 3:43 pm

A couple of friends just got back from a short trip around the Texas area by car. They told me that I must ride out to Drake sometime and visit the local. Here it is : http://www.drakehotelmotel.com.au/ Dont think much of the " Gold Harley " Shocked Any Pub with bikes parked inside must be good though.
I went to Google maps for a look and saw how inviting the Bruxner Hwy from Drake to Tenterfield looks. Wondering if anyone here has riden it and what they think.

I've personally only ridden from Casino to Drake. Then I rode thru the main bar of the pub Very Happy , it was for the world record attempt for the most bikes ridden thru a pub. Unfortunatly it was a really wet weekend & they didn't beat the record, if they have another go at it, I'll be there again to help them out Very Happy .

Yep, that was the pub, but at the time I wasn't on the Bandit, was still a good ride there on the SV tho. We dodged most of the rain, just got a light shower on the way home.
Let us know when you're heading that way Hammy, I'd be in for another ride up that way.

Did Tenterfield to Casino strecth of the Bruxner about 2 months ago now and found the road to be pretty good and the ride is not to bad either. Has it's share of twisties and straight bits. We did it on a mid week day and it wasn't very busy but I was told it gets a fair bit of traffic on the weekends Very Happy

I rode it about 20 years ago on my xt600. had a ball. but the dirt road from Woodenbong to Tenterfield is even better on a chook chaser. Back then the road was coverd in clay road base and it was a hoot in the rain. Just the sort of road Ewok often finds around Canberra.
