Bandit to come - Bne Nth
First topic message reminder :
Howdy folks,
I'm feeling good already - knowing us older guys are on Bandits.
I ordered a 2011 naked Bandit (non abs) yesterday. Currently on a 2011 GS500F to learn to ride again after Mcycle accident back in 2000. Plan to sell privately soon.
The Bandit seems to suit. Comfort for touring, low down torque, econ for ride to work & cheap to buy. I'll miss tucking my arthritic legs in behind the fairing on those cold mornings though (GS500F).
Will order the Ventura Touring Pack inc 47l Mistral bag today so's it setup from go. I can fit my jacket & lid in one of these.
Look forward to communicating with fellow Bandits.
How about this....going from 40nm @ 7400rpn to......108nm & 3750rpm.
Kind Rgds
Dave

@ Paul, the bank isn't in Snowtown is it? Could be a real bargain
Yes it is ( turn it into a Bed & breakfast or something maybe? )
The strange thing is my niece`s ex was a manager there when it was still used as a bank .

Re Red
Ended up with the 2011 grey. Hope it's the same grey as my GS500F. The inet photos look brownish.
The red looks the best, black is good too. Then there is the blue. (a little cityboy'ish)

Re: Bandit to come - Bne Nth
Howdy all,
Today is the day that I pickup the new Bandit. Riding my GS500F to the bike shop at lunch time from work. Will leave it there for safety cert tomorrow. The shop boys'll keep it there for me to pickup Sat arvo. It'll get some exposure there at the shop for a potential aquirer. (Especially on the Sat morn).
Picked up the Ventura touring pack yesterday. I like to fit it myself. (Details man, borderline obsessive compulsive) Dam thing came with a Spanda bag. I wanted the new Mistral 47L. Bike shop boys'll remedy that for me no doubt.
I saw the bandit yesterday - from a distance. It was in the middle of a pack of bikes at the shop. The 'Gleam Grey' colour has a champaign tinge to it. Looks flash for a country bloke. Dunlop tyres.
I'll strap my stick on the back until I can make up a holder.
Haven't sat on and bandit nor ridden one up until today. Near same with previous bike - no test ride prior to purchase. Hope my leg holds out ok with the extra 50kgs. The low seat height will be a winner for me.
Hope everyone's well and in good mind.

Re: Bandit to come - Bne Nth
It's raining 'now' ausrock50. Looks like I'll be suiting up in my wet, wet weather gear for work. (there's no such thing as dry, wet weather gear - ask the folks at work).
Here's photos -
Bandit at shop....
Bandit at home with ventura mistral 47l....
After the GS500F, it's smooth, very torquey & quiet - already pricing a yoshi R77. (Feels safer in traffic with noise).
Am thinking my first mod may be headlight upgrade to the HID Xenon H4-4 Hi/Lo. I'll purchase a pair, may be able to share other half with other forum member.

I am also looking at the Yoshi R77. Got a quote from a dealer yesterday. It is about $200 more than what I can get it from MorePowerRacing. Bought a pipe for my Wee from them, so will be going that route again.
Great looking bike by the way, congrats!!!

I have seen references to radiator gaurds a few times now. May I ask why this is such a popular mod for these bikes. I am picking up my new 1250FA tomorrow. Cannot wait

The obvious reason. Dont want to be stuck somewhere on the side of the road with a hole in your radiator. Cheap peace of mind.

It’s not a mod. It’s a necessity. Ignore us at your peril

Yes your right 2W. Why manufacturers dont install one as standard is beyond me. You don't see cars coming out without one, do you ?
I know what you're saying. " Cost ". But if I was looking around for a new bike and one was fitted with a factory rad' guard and another wasn't, that would be a big tick for it. Just my 2cents.

Okay thanks, will search where to get one. OMG the wife is going to have a fit, I can just see it..... You have only had the bike for a day and it already in pieces (I will need to take the fairing off to get it onto the FA I presume)

Re: Bandit to come - Bne Nth
Many here have bought mesh from Super Cheap and made their own. A few of us have Warp speed ones fitted.
Removing the fairing is good practice and an opportunity to run the tools over bits to make sure it’s all tight.

My FZ has one as standard. Yam were onto it at least 11 yrs ago I know they were more expensive......................Hammy wrote:Yes your right 2W. Why manufacturers dont install one as standard is beyond me. You don't see cars coming out without one, do you ?
