Givi Tank lock T480 Empty Givi Tank lock T480

First impressions. Went over to Springwood Suzuki to purchase new tank bag. Only had two of the new Givi tank lock bags to choose from. Th small 4lt semi hard case ( as has already been reviewed here) and the T480 14-22lt expandable. After humming and harring for a while , I took the plunge and handed over the $200 for the T480. $179 for the bag and $20 for the adaptor fixing ring. Out with the tool kit in a shady part of the car/bike park and in less than 5 minutes it was fitted. Qaulity wise, can't be faulted. Top marks to the Italians. Ride home: Not too big, ( looks bigger because it sits up off the tank to start with ) Does not interfere with any controls or obscure any vision. Feels very secure. There is an added saftey strap that you can attach to your bars. I did notice a little bit of glare coming off the clear plastic map insert cover. But it was not really an issue. Has a rain cover with clear section. So that you can carry on riding in the rain and still look at your map. Yeh, right. Has a zipper compartment on each side, that I found is ideal for specticle or sunglass case. Carry handle that converts to shoulder strap. Had my phone in the phone/GPS recess that is under the plastic and heard it ring on the way home. I was at a set of lights at the time though. Smile I went for the extra size to carry some camera gear. So far , so good. Here it is on the bike.

Sorry gus, I think I may have given you a bum steer. Looking at the bag now , I think it may have been in the expanded shape, 22lt, when I took that shot. It does look high on the bike.

Given time and wear and tear will the tank bag get saggy at its base and end up touching the tank.

No I don't think so Ross. It is a plastic plate on the bottom. I recon if the bag blew out you could even remove the plate and fit it to another bag ( non Givi ).

The latest edition of ARR has a good write up on both the T480 and the TPH02
