A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
I notice that it is about 2,000 - 2,100 kms from Adelaide to Brisbane (or Brisbane to Adelaide - take your pick). So what you might ask? Well, it offers an opportunity for many of us forum members to meet up somewhere roughly in the middle (don't ask me exactly where - I'm making this up as I go) - but it would have to be roughly half way. I know any kind of ride like this wouldn't suit the sandgropers, NT, NZ, USA, Italy, Greece, Sweden, etc members but that's just a fact of life with a country the size of Europe. I'm not talking about this year but what if we decided to have a big Bandit forum get together somewhere in the Spring/Summer of 2013? That should give enough advance notice for the wheels to be put in motion, surely. I'm quite happy to organise it.
Update (7Mar13):
Details are:
Date: 1 - 3 November 2013 (ie Friday nigtht & Saturday night for those wanting a two night stay)
Place: Cowra
Accommodation options: Option 1 - The Imperial Hotel (02 634102588) (prices start at $65 for a single room but are as low as $115 for an ensuite room with 1 dbl and 2 sgl beds). There are also ensuite rooms for two at $100 per room (1 dble, 1 sgl). Option 2 the Sovereign Inn (02 6342 1055) (price is $69 per person twin share or $127 for a single). It is directly opposite the Imperial across Kendal St - both look good. Book individually. Special group price will apply to all, irrespective of individual bookings.
Plans: Individuals organise their own rides to and from (with other members or solo, as preferred). Groups meet up at accommodation. Day trip to Bathurst for those interested on Saturday for a few laps of the circuit. Counter lunch in Bathurst. Pub meal in Cowra Sat night. Departure Sunday AM.

Re: A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
Folks,
This Summer is out for me. I am thinking 1 - 3 November 2013. 1st is Friday. Staying in Cowra at the hotels posted above (we might need both hopefully!). The main evening do would be Saturday night so if you live close and only want to do a single overnighter then Sat 2nd would be it for your accommodation. For those wishing to arrive Friday, we'll do a day trip on Saturday that takes in Bathurst (and a few slow laps of Mt Panorama) and lunch, and maybe a few other places before returning to Cowra for afternoon drinks/siesta. As Grover says, even if you live close, you don't have to bee-line it straight to Cowra (I certainly don't plan to) - make a day of it by going via an interesting route. I'm planning to be there both Fri and Sat nights.
How do those dates suit? Can see any school holidays, long weekends, etc and Motogp should be finished. Can easily be the second weekend if the first suits less people, but vote now please.

Any problem if a non-bandit owner comes along?

No problems as far as I'm concerned - they'll just have to be tolerant of our "Bandit Talk" - if thy're not up for that the might want to rethink!
But Baz no longer owns a Bandit and we'd not want to exclude him. And nonbandit (maybe i have the name wrong Peter?) has been on a few rides on the TDM900. So no problems from me.

I don't think he'd care about the "bandit talk" he owns a GSX750F so sort of a cousin anyway.

Folks,
Although I haven't posted on this thread for a while, this definitely still on as far as I'm concerned. We are now only 8 months away (that's reddog month on my calendar ) so if you were half thinking about it, it might be an idea to pencil it into the calendar, get HM Missus permission, etc.
I'm still looking at Cowra with a side trip to Bathurst (but don't think 'direct route' if you are close!).
Regards
Ewok

If only I was a bit closer to that side of the world Ewok
It'll be quite a ride for me if I decided to do it. I had seriously thought about doing this for the previous ASB ride to Adelaide last year. @Reardo went, I believe a good time was had by all

It wouldn't be the first time the Bathurst lock up has housed a motorcyclist or two
