it's also a difference in weight! that stock pipe (straight off a tank) is heavy! any aftermarket is going to be a significant weight saving.
i noticed a big difference between stock & the cf yoshi.

From memory I think the stock muffler and link pipe weighs in at 13.5kg affraid
I didnt weigh the headers when they were off but they were bloody heavy. Prob 15ish kg.
The Bandit would be a lot better if Suzuki made some savings on the exit side of things.

when you see the inside of the muffler and the fact the headers are an inner and outer type design (2 skinned if you like) plus there is the cat in there somewhere it's no wonder the exhaust system on the bandit is so heavy

actually what is inside the muffler? i was thinking of filing off the welds on the nuts on the back of the end piece and having a look to see it i can make the exit hole bigger by removing the little bitty pipe in the middle - i did that many years ago on each of the four pipes on my CB750

Mate I'd love to post a link to threads about the insides of the stock muffler (as there are a few out there) but all the info I can find on Max-Zuk and TWT have no pics anymore.

If you are guna pull the stocker apart only 3 of the bolt on the very back of the muffler actually hold it together. I think it is the ones at 2, 6 and 10 but can't remember.

The insides is made up of 3 chambers with pipes going in all directions

good luck with it and if you do it post up some pics also.

cheers
