akrapovic carbon slip on.
just put one on.
packaging complete. fit perfectly and super easy.
took all of about 10mins to read instructions and install.
performance wise - cant say much yet. only did 10k at 4.30pm in traffic.
it is a quiet. quieter than stock (couldnt be bothered renoving the baffle).
seems to run the same speed at 300rpm less than stock.
being quiet you dont realise your own speed.
more to follow when I get a weekend of riding and testing.
dunno if baffle in or out will make much difference.
thats the 2c's worth (it cost $700 delivered)

A slip on only affects the noise . It will not affect the rpm at any given speed

perhaps so. the bike was running at lower rpm for the test ride at same speeds.
just an observation.

laffs.
got home yesterday.
how to get the baffle out, it was real tight.
managed to extract it while pipe was rather warm.
what to do with the baffle bolt? hmmm.
put it back in? sounds clever.
dropped it into the muffler while trying to put it back in.
hour later when muffler cooled, remove muffler, made a tool to get bolt out of bottom of pipe and re-assemble.
while muffler is off, put bolt in.
havent had a chance to ride it but the note is definitely lower and louder but not harsh.

as holdenman said..
perhaps isn`t part of the equation, making something sound different isn`t going to alter the gearing of your bike
unless you`ve got some kind of electrical issue

I have an Akrapovic on my vstrom. The easiest way I found to remove the baffle is with a broom stick, just stick it in, wiggle it around a bit and it comes out.

Re: akrapovic carbon slip on.
update.
ride on the weekend with baffle out.
performance:
I could not tell the difference with baffle in/out or vs stock when giving it some stick.
Ran bike up to about 8k testing it to see where gains might be.
Speed seem about the same as does fuel economy with it in or out and vs stock.
Noise/tone:
Baffle out -
Louder but not excessive at idle - more blowy or woody sounding under revs.
from around 3000 to 4300 rpm wasnt nice through my helment.
(Different helmets sound diff so, yours may it may sound good).
as it was, it was almost like sitting in the back of a panel van with a shot muffler - a drone.
above 4300 - nice.
Baffle in - real nice just about everywhere.
I have since removed snorkel after putting baffle back in. This may allow it to pull better through the range, havent had a chance to try it yet.
Conclusion:
I am still happy with the purchase as it looks good, is quiet and the tone is nice.
Performance wise, I am also happy.
I will take bike to shop and get a dyno run to ensure it isnt running lean and to see how it fares.
that's it for now.
Oh, and by the way.
If you havent removed your airbox cover before (for what ever reason),
there are retainers for the bottom screws so they wont fall into the bike gizzards (or at least there are on my bike).

Yeah but watch out for the nuts. The bottom ones always seem to fall out.

Re: akrapovic carbon slip on.
will do.
I did put loctite on as they said but I only had the purple stuff (smaller thread), still it should get in.
Finga's crossed (eyes too).
heading to dyno on wed (brissy show day) out at ipswich to see if snorkel removal and pipe is running bike lean.

Re: akrapovic carbon slip on.
dyno results. (no graphs posted because print quality is cr@p)
airbox snorkel out. 91 ethanol unleaded from 7/11 down the road (caltex).
ECU coped with both scenarios. with consistent A/F ratio between 12.8 to 13.8 at 7600rpm.
fairly level HP line until around 6k, then flattens out.
bike runs slightly richer with baffle out (go figure) and has 4hp more.
difference starts just over 4k rpm
peak torque is around 84ft/lbs from 4500rpm to 5000rpm
peak hp wasnt measured as dyno only took bike to 8400rpm (101hp).
now onto suspension setups.

For comparison (and what it's worth!), this picture shows the 'before' and 'after' HP and torque graphs for my bike - Yoshi R77 carbon.

Re: akrapovic carbon slip on.
thanks for the shot ewok. I guess it is different dynos and different results.
according to mfgr (which i think is either optimistic or based on different fuel/setup)
http://az79640.vo.msecnd.net/akrapovicbppmultimedia/a70d992df84243a49454b42436096f66.pdf
I think the best thing for me was ensuring that I didnt need a power commander.
If I want to have a hoon, I take the baffle out for the day (as for normal riding the baffle in has a nicer tone to me).
cheers
