Boots.......,,
I had to buy some steel cap boots for work (yes work ) I got them home and then realised (honest ) the could make a good pair of
bike summer boots . Lace up front (work thing) but have a zip up the side so they go on and off easily .VERY comfortable ,light and at $150
(yes, i got 2, a left AND right ) a good buy i think
Called MONGREL BOOTS . Australian company (made in PAK , probably )

I have Mongrel boots and I'm afraid they are crap, of course I couldn't get the same Blundstone boots again that were so excellent last time.
Re: Boots.......,,
I should have checked with you first . OH well, a stop and go person needs comfort first (the are that ) so i'll see how they go .
Do Blunstone do a lace up or just a slip on ?

Re: Boots.......,,
Recently I went around a number of bike shops trying on various boots to find that the majority were far to tight across the feet. Okay.. so I've got paddle feet. I finished up in a work clothing store,"Totally Workwear" who sold the full range of Blunnies and bought a pair of style 177 boots. About $150. Very comfortable and good for bush walking as well.
I had a pair of these ten odd years ago. The Yamaha Thunderace I had at the time suffered a hole in the radiator, you guessed it no radiator guard, on the way back from Cape Tribulation, North of Cairns. While crossing the Daintree river on the ferry I noticed green fluid under the bike. Put my boots in some of the stuff as I was trying to figure out where the hole was. Well.. found the hole but in the process part of the soles of the boots dissolved as well. Very good boots to wear but stay away from any cooling fluids.
According to Blundstone's info, http://www.blundstone.com/products/btough/xtreme , they're resistant to most nasties these days.

Long live the serious work boot (steel blue in my case) that does double duty as a riding boot as well.
Make no mistake I'd prefer proper riding boots but until I can find some that fit my instep I'll continue to wear them.
If anyone knows of a high instep built 48/49 touring boot let me know.
I have a used pair of size 48 Alpine Stars that were liquidlen's if anyone wants them. (Free)
PM me if interested.

I was a Blundstone man, But I've been in STEEL BLUE for work for 5years now and have a pair for the bike too.
Re: Boots.......,,
Best boot so far for me is the Rossi Vision, very comfortable for walking as well as on the bike, I also have a high instep.

They used to be made in Tasmania. I used to wear their slip on one everywhere. Now they are made in India as production costs are lower.

Re: Boots.......,,
After a day out yesterday looking for boots for me and my son I ended up coming home with a pair of these and a pair of these.
Got them both at the same store for a pretty reasonable price (compared to some OS pricing I've seen on the interweb I paid ~$30aud extra all up)
I'm also looking into a pair of these as a pair of semi off road boots due to my not really liking full on off road boots, but still looking for what is out there.

I like those Tarmac boots. Might have a closer look at them. Any idea what size they go to? Website is pretty useless.
Re: Boots.......,,
The ones we got are a US-14/Euro-49. We had to get them that big to fit our 13yo sons feet.2wheelsagain wrote:

I've tried them on (not riden in them tho) and they are dam cumfy. Much like my hiking boots and weight not much more by the feel of it.

I agree with sb, I have had a pair of style 177 for just over 2 years, I'm just about to replace them now. I don't use them as riding boots tho, just very comfy work boots

I've got Rossi's for the bike, I went away from them for 1 pair, the next pair I wasn't going to have anything else, as for work boots, I haven't found anything better than Steel Blue boots
