What is your bandit ?
what is a Bandit to you .
The bandit is so many bikes in one .So what do MOST people use it for ? I know it isnt real "sports " or real "Tour " But you get the idea .
I'm pulling parts off while others more is not enough .
A naked i would think sports .Streetfighter sports .Wild paint job sports .ect,ect you make up your own mind.
Panniers =touring ,F.A touring ,GPS tour ect
And no it carnt be both which we all know it can be .
I'm thinking 75% will be tour but you never know .

For me time in the seat wise;
90% commuter
10% quick tourer
0% sports as I'm not fast enough
Distance on the clock;
70% quick tourer
5% pretend sports
25% commuter
No real option for me in the poll Gus.

My Bandits a wannabe tourer - panniers, Sargent seat with sheepskin pad, MRA vario screen, tankbag. Has lots of plusses for touring - comfy upright ergos, enough wind protection ( S with MRA screen ) and of course a motor endowed with prodigious bottom end and midrange so you can forget about revving the ring out of it to stay in the power band.
To be even better it needs another 4 litres fuel capacity and get rid of the chain - shaft or even single sided swingarm and belt would be nice.
The Bandit really is a UJM with a very big U.

... a cheap brand new bike. I rode lots of bikes before buying and the full Givi touring kit for free sold the deal.
I've taken it touring, on the race track, to the drags and highspeed country runs and it doesn't get too embarrased by sports bikes other than on the race track. Considering it's weight it's no doubt it's hard to handle at full pace on a race track though.

Total Tourer set up for me. Love the torque and the way it handles being fully loaded, it is just so effortless.

I'll go with what Fossil said, all of the above.

Tour for me Gus - I don't need a 1250 to commute 20kms each day. And I'm not fast enough to pretend I'm a sports bike rider.

Mines, the best bike I have at the moment. I can do 1k days easily on it (with the mods) with no pain. So I guess tourer. However I commute on it as well and pick up groceries.

Re: what is a Bandit to you .
Mine is everything to me. Commuter, sports bike and tourer.
I chose Tourer (kind of). Because while I commute on it daily, and (according the blokes I ride with) I tend to go round corners on the quick side of normal, the thing I really like about the Bandit is that it's comfortable.
I made some noises at home the other day about selling the Bandit and buying something else. My pillion (15yr old son) said that if I replaced the Bandit it'd better be with another Bandit. Not because it's cool, not because it's fast, not because it's unique, but because in his opinion it has the best pillion seat he has ever sat on, better than a HD 'granny glide', better than a BMW R1200RT.

I read a review in a bike mag when the 2006 model was released. One of the comments by the reviewer I think sums it up nicely.
To parapharse "The Bandit, like many of it's owners, has become a bit flabby around the middle, but it in the right hands can still put a smile on you face".

Re: what is a Bandit to you .
My Bandit does a bit of everything. i do usually use it for long distance riding but it holds its own what ever you do with it. up in the hills , usually beat the sports bikes through the corners but they get me on the straights. The main thing is it always brings a smile to my face when im riding

To me, the Bandit is mainly a tourer but you can't deny the urge to power wheelie!
