Bandit Headlights
just to carry on from introductions - i was surprised at the headlight. i came back from lismore a few weeks ago and started at 4am so i was pitch black and on the highway, in the middle of nowhere so there's no streetlights [never had this experience with the bandit] i didn't really think i could ride any faster than about 70-80 kms as i couldn't see. this was reinforced when i just clipped the nose of a dead roo on the road that i didn't see until i was right on top of it when i was doing 100. so i slowed down until the sun came up.
i wonder if those HID lamps would make a difference or if it just a bad design? they have them at Jaycar - although i think they need a ballast or something - has anyone used one?

Sigh... you and your avatars.
The 80% brighter bulbs make a big difference. They are available from most of the car equip shops. They don't run 80% hotter, they are a quick fit, bit pricey though. I have had them in for months and no detrimental effect on the h/light surround. As you may know, you need H7s.

Miners helmet
I am thinking of converting my helmet to include a miners light as I find my bikes light so poor, mainly the dropoff to low beam at legal speeds.Twisted throttle have a Denali brand dual light setup and they have a very impressive presentation,I think the kit price is $275 + freight. After nearly hitting an abandoned blown truck tyre carcass right in the middle of the lane I swore no more country night rides.

I used to do a lot of night riding but after a truck flipped up a piece of chip board which i head butted i gave it up .With wildlife that move around
i think i'm lucky to have got away with it for so long.

I've heard a bit of criticism of the headlight but the round h/l on the naked's quite good !
