Recall Notice
Got my recall notice yesterday.
The note says to confirm the VIN.
Wouldnt they already have that on file and know which build range was affected?
If mine is included I'll ask the dealer fit one of those recently popular whistles too.

Re: Recall Notice
Got the letter, but haven't checked the numbers. I don't really want CMC to touch the bike again.

Re: Recall Notice
My recently-acquired 2008 Bandit has over 12 months warranty remaining, and I confirmed this with my local Suzuki dealer (Kessner Suzuki) who advised me that on Friday's 6000km service they will replace the rectifier item under the recall notice.
So kudos to them, because as soon as I supplied the VIN and the bloke looked it up I was advised about the recall. Didn't even have to ask for it.

and they have ordered the part.

Re: Recall Notice
Never got the letter (or at least haven't yet. Called dealer, he asked how many kms and said he has all other details needed, ordered parts, arrived yesterday, picked up today, One rectify done, other bike in bits in the shed while I wait for dinner to be served :-)
EDIT: job finished on both bikes now.
For trivia's sake
Output prior to change (both bikes pretty close to each other):
~15.3v @ 5000 rpm (IMO this is a bit high for a 12v battery but is within spec according to the manuals)
Output after change (both bikes pretty close to each other):
~13.8v @ idle
~14.7 @ 3000 rpm
~14.5 @ 5000 rpm
Much better for the battery I recon

Re: Recall Notice
Got my recall letter yesterday.
Rang Bunbury City Motorcycles who took my details as they had to order the part. I'll just pick it up and fit it myself if possible, I can't be bothered leaving my bike for any extended period at the dealership.

Re: Recall Notice
3.5 years is probably longer than some people would keep a bike for sure. Still good to see Suzuki doing something about it, unlike Honda who denied they had issues with the same part on the CBR's.
What I thought was interesting was they sent the form which had do you still own this bike ... or is it written off? insurance company etc.

Re: Recall Notice
Got my new Reg\rec today ,told them bike was in pieces so they just gave me it.( )Pissing down rain here again so didnt feel like riding it
If you do your own remove spocket cover, you will need a 10 and 8 mm spanner to remove the part.
10 min easy job esp. if you have small fingers.Stick a rag under it in case you drop the nuts.(2)

Re: Recall Notice
Yep, local guy took em off me then threw em on the pile in the corner. Guess they have to be returned to smoozuki. Maybe they will go back to the maker and they will redo them to be the new spec or something, who knows
