Left hand engine cover
Hello all, I am after some advice.
The left hand engine cover, starter cover is scratched from the previous owner tipping it over in a car park, I am going to rub it back to get the marks out then polish it.
The question is what can I expect when I take the cover off, will I it leak lots of oil, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Left hand engine cover
It wont leak lots of oil but it will leak some.
It was covered on here awhile ago, but I'm buggered if I can find it.
I painted mine on the bike. Left 3 screws in, masked up all around it and gave it a couple of coats.
Afterwards i reinstalled all the screws removed the the blackened ones and then cleaned them up.
Some also suggested leaning it up against the RH side to prevent oil from running out

Yes, lean it against a wall the opposite from normal or oil will run out .

Re: Left hand engine cover
I recently posted about some corrosion forming on mine under the paint. I haven’t done anything about it and plan to fix it over summer by applying a Ninja 1000 or VFR800 to the garage.
But when I was keen on doing it there was a brand new one on eBay for $125US. I can recommend the stainless steel bolt upgrade though through a mob called ProBolt they were about $25 I think.

Thanks gents,
I will give it a go over the next few days and I will post the results. I had better order a new gasket.

I used the same one . Just run a blade under any section that sticks . It may brake where the wires enter so dab a spot of sealant on that bit .
