Because I haven’t had any controversy on here for a few days Rolling Eyes
I thought I would pose a serious question and see if I can rattle some cages Smile
When parked using the side stand do you turn the bars left or right? Question
Left would appear to be the correct way because that’s the way I do it Laughing and because the steering lock is set up that way.
Why do we not all turn the bars left Shocked What’s your reason for the recalcitrant amongst you Twisted Evil

As reluctant as I am to get involved in a controversy by agreeing with you I must admit I thought left was the obvious choice especially as you point out thats the way the steering lock works & I want my bike to still be there when I want to ride it again . Razz

PS aren`t you allowed to vote too ?

There is a shit load of them out here.

2 of the 7 are not running at the moment. 1 looks to have damaged piston and barrel after the hardest 40,000k's I've seen. the other just wont start.

I've always thought that it was less likely to trip the side stand if it did move forward a fraction.

4 Wheels again must have run out of fires to fight, toilets to clean or cucumber sandwiches to make for him to become bored enough to ask such a silly question, or is it?

What does this question really say about us?

Some here twisted it to which side do you "dress" to be honest I am so poorly endowed that I dress in the middle, it is not long enough to reach the legs of my trousers so thanks to God's architecture it has never been a vexing problem for me.

In 48 years of riding I have never given any thought to this question and now it worries me, it seems that during my riding life I concentrated on the relatively innocuous minor things like braking, cornering, corner lines, tire pressures, tire wear, lighting, engine lubrication, fuel quality, suspension setup, seating position as well as the unimportant issues of safety apparel but NEVER once that critical issue of "Handlebar angle" and now I feel chastened and cheated.

There are many parts to this motorcycling equation such as the (a) LSHGDTG = left side hand grip distance to ground, let's say 1 Meter then we have to counter that with the (b) RSHGDTG, you guessed it, right side hand grip distance to ground (obviously more) lets say 1.3 Meters, then we have the (c) LSHGDTTWBTL = left side hand grip distance to tank when bars turned left say .2 meter and (x) RSHGDTTWBTL right side hand grip distance to tank when bars turned left, obviously much greater say 1.2 meter.

Using Pythagoras's theorem which teaches us that a squared times b squared is equal to c squared Better explained by this clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HYHG3fuzvk

This naturally brings us to Avogadros Hypothesis best explained by those smarter than me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVPpGNcNn24

And now a final tutorial to put this subject to bed and "4 wheels again" to death, take particular note of the video clip narrated by the stunning and effervescent Nicole Wilson.
