Hello from Canada!
Hi All,
I stumbled across your fantastic forum here by searching "Suzuki Gel Seat". I guess you are a comfy bunch!
I am so happy to have found an active Bandit forum. I look forward to some good advice, good humour, and good ride reports. I have been going through some of the Ride Reports....WOW!! Absolutely beautiful. You are very fortunate to have such a gorgeous backyard!
About me;
I live just north of the city of Toronto in Ontario. Back in the late 60`s my parents had the choice of Australia or Canada when immigrating and I guess you just didn`t have enough snow. $#%&!!!!
The bikes;
2006 GSF1200s / 2008 1250SEA/GT / 1979 Kawi kz400h
I haven't a clue on how to post any pics! I am guessing that I need permission.
The rides;
Our season is just about to begin! Heavy snow falls late in the season has kept the bikes under wraps.
I plan on doing several weekend rides into the northern States (Vermont/NY/Pennsylvania) and a 2 week trip to Colorado to ride through the mountains and the Million Dollar Highway (google it!) is planned for the end of May. (2500km away! 8 riders,2 trucks with trailers)
Hopefully I either have permission or figure out how to post pics by then!
I look forward to sharing some stories and a few laughs while learning who the inmates are.
Ride safe,
Dave

Welcome
Hi Dave and welcome,
Geez are you brave enough to ride the Million Dollar Highway, I saw the TV show 48 hours about a month ago over here in Oz and it was all about the hitch hikers and others etc that go missing on that road and end up murdered, I can't remember how many but there are several each year. Stay safe.
Regards
Paul

Re: Hello from Canada!
Welcome, I look forward to seeing some reports from your beautiful corner of the world.
Once your probation period is up and you are allowed to post photos, use the forum search and you will find step by step guides and even a video!
I take it for granted riding all year round, although sometimes it's too hot.
Cheers.

Welcome aboard.
Most of us are lucky we can ride all year.
However most of us with 07 - 08 GSF1250s cant ride at night due to the candle Suzuki call a headlight
Will be on 4 wheels in the northern US July next year. Starting with Route 66 in CA. Can't wait.

Welcome to the forum Dave.
My parents had the same choice, they choose the warmer weather
Its on my bucket list to visit your beautiful country, just got to get the time and the funds together to make it happen.
You should be able to post photos immediately if you use a host site like Photobucket

Welcome to the forum Dave - our daughter last year rode her pushbike across Canada (Vancouver to St Johns NL), all 7,650kms in a continuous journey. You might do that faster on the Bandit but you'd still get a sore bum!

Re: Hello from Canada!
Are we not all immigrants???
Welcome Dave, from the East coast branch (New Zealand) of the Bandit Forum . History had always dictated a healthy rivalry between AUS and NZ and I'm sure it continues via this median...... All joking aside I've found this a very useful source of information.
We are luckily enough to ride all year round over here, even in the snow
Canada is on the bucket list

Re: Hello from Canada!
Thank you for the warm welcomes!
Murders and people going missing on the Million Dollar Highway??? And I was worried about having to drive through Detroit or Chicago. It does kind of explain why we only have 1 truck hired for the trip home......hmmmmm.
The handle T-Leaf, I know about it being slang for "thief" but figured it fit well with this being a "Bandit" site. Plus it has an underlying Canada and even Toronto feel to it.
That hyper-link to the video is great, I tried but couldn't do it. I will go over the how-to thread later, first it's off to work I go.
@ewok1958 WOW! That is remarkable what your daughter accomplished. I hope she enjoyed herself. Very few Canadians even travel across our entire country let alone on a bicycle.
I did it! My photobucket link worked! I will get some more photos up later and will include the 1250.
Take Care.

Re: Hello from Canada!
Hi t-leaf, looks like we have the same bandit. Riding when there's snow around, strange indeed, but riding @ 42C, is even worse.
I have a good friend in Montreal that I'd've to visit, she shows beautiful photos, so let's just say we're on par ;-)

Re: Hello from Canada!
Our insurance, and I'm sure yours too, is quite expensive. Back in the day you could cancel your insurance during our 4 month or so "off" season but now we have to keep our insurance year round. What I do is swap the coverage over to the little Kawi so when conditions are deemed survivable I am out chasing the snow plows on the Kawi! I even get a cheque back for the time the coverage is on the cheaper bike!
A window of opportunity where the roads were dry and temps were above 3 degrees came up a few days ago and I was able to pick up my new-to-me from the dealer...Thank $&#% for heated grips!
The blue one is actually a 1200s. The 2006 had the next gen body but still had the 1200 motor...sourcing parts is a nightmare!

Welcome along T-leaf.
It's a shame you only got a blue "06" 1200s, as I know for a fact that the red ones are faster!
But seriously, we had the "06" come only in red here. Not to worry, it's still the fastest colour!

Looks nice TeaLeaf. I had a red 06 1200. Great bike. Now I have the silver 1250. Greater. Are yo going to ditch that ugly big heavy air restricting piece of crap that they call a muffler ? If so, check out the range of " Delkevic " cans for the 1250. You will find them on ebay.

I already have a Leo Vince EVO II carbon to go on her and a gel seat is sitting in a box in my living room, it is just too bloody cold to go out and install them.
Actually, I found on the ride home that the neutral light is acting up and stops (works with the stand down). The dealer has said to bring her back (all used vehicles have a 90 day warranty). I will point out the faulty part. Thank You Kewwig!!!
I would rather bring her back as she was, before I start wrenching on her.
I have a HINDLE titanium super sport muffler on the 1200. They are a Canadian company who build a top quality product. (can't post link)
Once I clear probation here it would be great to post up videos of the Hindle and the Leo Vince just for comparison.
