First topic message reminder :

What does everone think about a TRIVIA thread

Stuff that maybe of no use to most people but really handy to the others. Maybe a good DVD ,something they have made, seen ,heard of ,
cooked ,been too .Minor things that do not really warrant a post of there own.(like most of my stuff ,there beat you to it )
Like taking a tractor tyre up north to float your Bandit across a river to a football selection ,the taste of beer ,who's state is
better at Rugby League. Laughing (may be not that) .Something that may make someone else say ,"why didnt i think of that".

Good idea or just post it on "off topic discussions " or not post it at all? (feeling vulnerable now )

That strap over the seat, looks like its hooked into the rear wheel. Now there's a worry

Maybe it's not holding the seat on, it's stopping the rear wheel from dropping out instead!! Shocked

It's a wheelie device ............by locking the rear wheel in place & not allowing it to spin , as you take off , the bike pivots on the rear hub , and then ..........hey presto ...........a wheelie  Razz Laughing

Except in Summer when you get a much milder and pleasant summer than the oppressive and often humid shit Canberra can deal up that time of year

I've heard of a new security lock that fits to the wheel so the bike cant be moved - is that not what it was?

PS: Has any body heard if it gets cold in Tasmania or not?

My first wife took most of our stuff at first , but I got a lot back eventually . In my case , she left , leaving me to keep up the mortgage payments ..........sale of the house  etc , so figuratively speaking , I suppose I gave her  half of everything . I must add though ,she was entitled to it.  Some blokes can be pretty possessive about stuff though & can become arrogant pricks when it comes time to divide up .The lawyers are the only winners then .

Hi Truck....
Head gasket ?????that's pretty rare to go on a 1200 !!
If you have to pull the head, I'd be doing a few more things while it's off.
How many k's on your bike ? If your up to and over 45000k, you may as well do the cam chain. Don't put a new cam tensioner in, that's a scam !!!! There's nothing to ware in the tensioner, only the very minimal chance of the spring loosing it's tension, and the spring can be bought separately for next to nothing, but it wouldn't need it anyway.
Again while the head is off, possible new rings....the head is already off !!!
Inspect the valves and seats too.

Just saying....it's not that stupid a thing to look at while it's apart.

Hey MTB, the head gasket has been leaking for some time now, I hope I have said the right thing - it is the top gasket, um OK I think it might be the valve cover gasket if there is one. Sorry.
Kays on the old tank is around the 103 000 KLMs range from memory.
Cam chain was done a long time ago - the mechanic never said anything about that, but neither did I.
It wont win any beauty prizes but she still makes me smile after I've taken it out for a quick squirt.
I'm hoping to have it done by this Sat so I can join a few mates for a day ride down to Bowen - about 400 klm round trip.
Fingers crossed . . .
