Trivia .....
First topic message reminder :
What does everone think about a TRIVIA thread
Stuff that maybe of no use to most people but really handy to the others. Maybe a good DVD ,something they have made, seen ,heard of ,
cooked ,been too .Minor things that do not really warrant a post of there own.(like most of my stuff ,there beat you to it )
Like taking a tractor tyre up north to float your Bandit across a river to a football selection ,the taste of beer ,who's state is
better at Rugby League. (may be not that) .Something that may make someone else say ,"why didnt i think of that".
Good idea or just post it on "off topic discussions " or not post it at all? (feeling vulnerable now )

We`ve got one called the cockle train on the south coast ( I can remember when that`s what they used all the time )

Re: Trivia .....
A couple of nice shots Gus. The old steam trains sort of typify what the Bandit is all about I think. Not too pretty. Built for a purpose. Pretty reliable. Stoke em up and you get plenty of low down grunt. I take it that the second shot is an old one, as your bike seems to have changed a bit.

Re: Trivia .....
Carol asked me today ,if the bike is on the center stand, (rear wheel off the ground ) and you put in 40 psi .Will the pressure increase when the
bike is on the ground with rider and luggage .
Good question ?

Re: Trivia .....
What about if an elephant sat on the seat , still not a higher reading ?
You blow a balloon up ,has a certain amount of pressure .You stand on it pressure increases ,Bang .No?

Re: Trivia .....
I think that the pressure that is applied on the tyre off the centre stand would be so indifferent to when it is raised that it would not matter. Example: Moto GP bikes, formula one cars, and so on have their tyres pre inflated before they are put on the vehicle. JMHO.
ps. Easy theory to prove or disprove. Just sit on it .

Re: Trivia .....
Or inflate a car tire off the car to 40 psi .Refit and read pressure .We have a screw in the car tire ,this is how this question came about .
A balloon taken underwater gets small as the water pressure increases . Therefore the pressure must increase as its in a smaller area .
A tire gets compressed .Stuffed if i know .
Ewoke your a scientist arnt you ,help me out ,i wont sleep.

Re: Trivia .....
Yes. The pressure increases. How much depends on the weight. With a balloon the pressure is displaced to other areas of the balloon that are not being squashed , because the balloon can stretch, tyres have little stretch so the pressure increases. Heat also increases tyre pressure.

OK, couldn't sleep. Up early, as usual. Out to the shed. Cold rear tyre, on sidestand, 38.2psi. On centerstand, 38.2psi. Digital gauge. I can sleep easy tonight.

Re: Trivia .....
Whilst the tiny differences might be there, the change wont be measurable with various tyre gauges and won't be significant enough to affect things. Temp build up while riding would be more so I'd think.
Then again I could be wrong, but no sleep will be lost.
