Lurker for years - my second 1250, some ideas needed
I'm Ben from North Brisbane. Got the bike (09,mods done, holeshot, did everything I wanted) but covid, then work remote, work from home, I didn't get a serious look at my forks until they were fully hatched with rust. I'm thinking that a salvage front end will be the best option. Anyone have any suggestions, maybe a 43x648 set with some trick bits from a bimota (Jk) that people just give away? Lol. Thanks in advance - I've been keeping my eye out for months and it seems like there's no practicality to spending $600+ on stanchions plus having to take it to a fella because I don't have the drivers, or experience in doing the bushings, etc etc.
Happy new year to everyone, and thank you in advance if you have some options, commiserate, etc.
Cheers,
Ben

Used these on a crashed SV650 and never had any problems. now you can get them for a 1250 Bandit.

Hey thanks - I've looked at those, but wasn't that cheap or available - that definitely would be another option. Did you do the whole thing, or did you job it out? Cheers,
Ben

I did it all myself, even made up my own fork seal driver using some PVC pipe, plenty of video's on youtube on how to do it.
Not a very complicated job if you also have a service manual on hand

I’m out of touch, but years ago, I did my ‘96 forks. I added Gold Valves and stiffer springs (also had the shock done). It transformed the bike. By comparison the stock spring would sag as the bike came off the side stand, but the overly slow compression damping was jarring on the bumps.
As mentioned “transformed”.
Still riding the old girl today. Will qualify for Historic registration in 2 years. Scary!

I had a chance to buy a 1200 with racetech gold valves and a basic olins rear - I really loved the way it handled, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a similar thing. Not fancy, just well sorted, and hopefully I won't need to do anything else - it's otherwise perfect.
