Starting problem
[ltr]Quick question.
Did oil change and engine flush yesterday, no issues there.
Started bike twice after that, no ride though.
This morning eveything cycled ok, but, hitting the start button, the headlights drop, normal i believe to direct power, no starter action.
Recycle everything, hooked multimeter to battery, no voltage drop when hitting the button. Vague feeling the neutral light was not as bright as it could be.
So, in gear, rock it back and forth, 1 press, 2 press and away i went.
This may only be a one off, but, i would rather get ahead of the game, new Bandit owner and all that.
Had a few times when the neutral light hasn't lit on neutral....like once in every 30 times....
Hoping the engine flush and the ride to work today might have cleansed a dirty switch ?
Any opinions are welcome.....[/ltr]

Cheers for that Chook...
Have read a few of those, but haven't seen what happened to mine...yet.... ha ha
Has behaved fine since, and also, have noticed the neutral light is a tad brighter and neutral more positive since
i did the engine flush/ oil change, and she has had two higher speed runs to work and back.
Although i believe the bike had a service at 36k, i get a sneaky suspicion that it may have been 10w50 in it....run out of the drain heavy-ish.
I have put Motul 5100 10w40 in.....whether that has any bearing on how things are operating, i dont know.
But i am going to do all the preventative maintenance items i can find suggested here.

Re: Starting problem
My indicator was playing up randomly - removed cleaned & all good.
Oil change won't alter brightness of neutral light.
Headlight dimming but no voltage drop or crank, check relay and wires, maybe also check tightness of battery & starter cables etc. (Don't ask)
Oil thickness is the weight, ie, the first two numbers, 10W or 20W etc. The other two refer to oil specs at approx 100deg C.
Running P/rite MC 10w-50 semi in mine, no worries.
Changed oil on 28/4 & have just clocked 4500km since, oil is now a little darker but still transparent.
Yours have been 20w-50 or didn't get service at all.

Re: Starting problem
Yeah...like I said, the old oilwas probably 50 weight ... It was hot and still quite heavy, even with engine flush in it...

Re: Starting problem
So it must have been 40w ??
" With engine flush in it" ? So after you drained, you then flushed & it was still thick, yuck. I'd be doing another filter & oil change soon.

Re: Starting problem
Work with automotive oils and the heaviness i meant was that it was still reasonably thick
while hot, so it gave me the impression of 50w.
I put engine flush in it to satisfy myself....
