Snowy Mountains Loop
Yesterday, myself, James Coleman, #Tag and a friend of ours (Ron, on a GSXS-1000R) did a loop that took in 300kms of the best twisties in Australia, a Snowy Mountains loop that begins at Adaminaby, crosses the main range via the Elliot Way (past the Tumut 2 Snowy Hydro power station) and takes you to Tumbarumba for lunch. Then it's back via the Tooma road, past two of the snowy mountain hydro reservoirs to Cabramurra (the highest town in Australia) and then back to Adaminaby. If you don't like twisties this road is not for you! It's a great way to wear down those chicken strips.
This is the loop.
And a few photos courtesy of Ron.

Nice - that's the motivation I need to ask for a day pass.
Being a HSSE I like the hi vis vest too.

Looks good Ewok !!!
I'm extremely jealous.
QLD, has some, nice roads, but nothing as scenic as that part of Australia.
All fingers and toes crossed, I'll be touring that neck of the woods in October.

Looks fantastic. I've done those roads in the 70s with my parents and 80s with a mate, both times were in a tin top though.
Doing them by bike is definitely on my bucket list

That is indeed a fine area for riding. I was up there on the Vic long weekend. The weather was just perfect. One day getting there, one day riding around a loop Jindabyne, Adaminaby, Kancoban, Thredbo, Jindabyne. Back home Sunday. It only gets boring West of Albury, for an hour and a bit. Next time, I might go when there isn't holiday weekend traffic - it wasn't bad as it was, and maybe take a few more days and look at more than lines on the road a bit.
Glorious place to spend a weekend riding.

New upgraded rear spring from Shock Treatment worked a treat on lots of corners.

Oh yeah, I've done that loop (and variations thereof) plenty of times. And you stop at the same places as me judging from the pics.
Awesome awesome roads with fantastic surfaces (especially between Adaminaby and Kiandra).
It's an easy day trip from Canberra so gets done on a semi regular basis except during the winter months.

You’re lucky to be so close to it all, I need to take a few days Roto get them all in. Tawongla Gap, Thredbo, quick lap from Cooma. There are some great rides, next March it’s Tasssie I think
