Re: 1250 Replacement
Rode the Z1000sx. Neat bike. Little small for me. Stupid black dash with white numbers makes it hard to see and it cant be changed. Power was ok, not stunning but ok. Guess Im comparing it to my CBR. But good little bike for my mate.NZspokes wrote:A mate has asked for help looking for a bike which has bought a new bike to me on the radar. Kawasaki Z1000sx.
I will have a look at one today and maybe ride one.

Re: 1250 Replacement
I still miss the low & mid range of my 1250FA but morphed over to a 2015 DL1000. Great bike but it just lacked something? I searched for a while - tried the Kawaka 1000sx - too buzzy at cruising speed, BMW frigging expensive on the road, Ducati not good value for $, Triumph etc.......
A friend told me to try a Yamaha XTZ1200 Super Tenere............... long story short............ 2016 ES version..... cruise control, heated grips & electronic suspension........... the more I ride it the more I love it. Comfortable, torquey & fun to ride........ it just eats up the kms!
Now I need a play bike............ GSXs750?

Re: 1250 Replacement
OK let's make this even more interesting.
You have $30K burning a hole in your pocket and cannot have any more and you are without a ride.
You are required to buy 3 motorcycles that are available today on bikesales and they must be road registerable (no basket case bikes)
You cannot buy any other bikes for 10 years.
what would you buy?

XTZ is a bike I love the look of. Being short in the leg I need a bloody pole vault to get on one.jaba01 wrote:I still miss the low & mid range of my 1250FA but morphed over to a 2015 DL1000. Play bike look at a Street Triple. Epic sound track and decent handling. Im riding my girls one while she is getting over surgery. Tiz a giggle. Not the fastest but it makes you feel like Rossi.

With you on the Blade. Epic bike. Dont know much about ZZR.
I would love a Tuono. Ive wanted one for years. But they have soo many motor problems. Seems every second one here for sale has had a new motor under warranty. What do you do when you run out of warranty?

Re: 1250 Replacement
It's a pity that CBR is not in original condition. A mate of mine used to own a 92 Fireblade. Interesting colour scheme and not sure I could stand the 16" front, but a nice bike.

Re: 1250 Replacement
$30 000 hey. ..for 10yrs, well. ..
1- Gen 1 Bandit, that I've already got. I never plan on ever selling it. I love it to death !!!
2- BMW K 1600 GT. Watched a lot of youtube clips on this bike over the years, pretty amazing bike, and I'm not at all into tourers. There's one in WA. A 2012 for $15 500, with 38 000km's on it.
3- Another bike i already have. DRZ400E, but i want a spare set of motard wheels for it. Such a fantastic, and practical bike. I still giggle everytime i ride it.
I'll never again own a dedicated, so called Sports Bike. I don't see the sense in them, unless it's a dedicated track bike, and i don't want a dedicated track bike. To each their own there. Pot holed Australian roads, is no place for one, and i wouldn't turn it into a naked, with high bars to suit the upright feel.....it's a sports bike, not a naked. One or the other!!!
Would like an Aprillia 1100 Tuono, and Aprillia SXV 550 Motard. But with any Italian build, it's hands in pockets. If money was no option, I'd get both those bikes, and wouldn't care of they broke down, as I'd just fix them.
So, it looks like i only have to buy one more bike, to complete the trio.
