Cheap way to improve side stand
How do you stop your bike falling over on soft ground ? I use an old mini frying pan with the handle removed.
I got this in Victoria's Basement in the QVB (Sydney) for less than a tenner. Don't make my mistake and go to Victoria's Secret instead, as asking for something to spread your load gets you some funny looks!
I have used this on hot asphalt, wet grass etc and it works really well. It fits neatly under the seat too!

A bit of wood
I just carry a bit of wood that's about 5cm square - seems to do the job.

This just slips into my back pocket or into a Ventura bag.

You should have kept the handle on it, then you could do some cooking as well

Your frypan was "less than a tenner"
2WA's is $6.90 inc delivery on eBay

Re: Cheap way to improve side stand
I'd be very cautious placing the frypan, or any other metallic object above the battery unless the positive terminal was well protected (I don't mean the soft rubber boot on the end of the cable.
It is worth considering the worst case scenario. If you are riding along and smoke starts coming out from under your seat, just how quickly you could stop the bike and get the seat off. You could get a similar result to Samsung Note 7 phones
Personally, I think you paid $10 too much for your side stand add-on. A crushed drink can in your pocket is $10 cheaper than the frypan and easily replaced if you lose it

$9-90 in SA, we get 10c back
Re: Cheap way to improve side stand
Good point Dave - but it doesn't sit on the battery, there is a hard plastic cover over the battery which forms a completely separate compartment above the battery. This is where I keep the pan, disc lock and seat drying cloth.

Is there a larger foot available for the side stand?

Re: Cheap way to improve side stand
Last time at Philip Island I got a couple of freebies from the Yamaha stand. Plastic with a couple ridges to stop it slipping off - works well. Check out the local Yamaha dealer and see if they've got any.
