Re: National meet 2017
Why not put them at opposite ends of the year and then call them Bandit meet 2016.2 and Bandit meet 2017.1

Re: National meet 2017
I couldn't do another long trip this year, perhaps a SA/Vic get together somewhere around Oct/Nov, but if Mudgee is in late 2017 I could possibly do a over and back trip to the WSBKs

Re: National meet 2017
Lets remember this is a national (and international) forum.
We'll never all be able or willing to attend a national meet.
Personally I'm usually stuck at work when the good riding is planned. Even today I have applied for 2 days AL for early Nov.
I'm happy for a general consensus and that ride destination be agreed as the "national meet" and t-shirts/caps etc be available for those who cant make it. We'll be there in spirit. I'll always buy a t-shirt or stubby holder and be happy to hear the tales from the trip.
We'll never all be able or willing to attend a national meet.

Re: National meet 2017
IMHO, If you can manage to get forum members together from more than 2 states at at a time it's about as close to "National" as we are ever going to get, some like yourself can't travel due to many reasons, others won't travel more than a day away, the one's of us that are able to travel and do make the effort have had a great time at the last 2 that I can vouch for and others tell me all 4 meets were great.2wheelsagain wrote:Lets remember this is a national (and international) forum.

If we get 6 riders from 4 states in one place for a couple of nights, that's pretty "National" IMHO, the more we get obviously the better it will be
Re: National meet 2017
If the start of the year is going to have a Superbike trip and this ends up later in 2017 I'd assume the weather wouldn't be that great before October in Mudgee (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, just going by what Google tells me )
The NSW school term starts on October 9th and finishes on Dec 19th so we'd want to be within those dates, probably October 13-15th at the very earliest but no later than mid November as all the Xmas stuff really takes over a lot of lives by then

Re: National meet 2017
I wouldn't be able to go anywhere later than October, as we start getting real busy at work from late October.

October would work and it's only just down the road from you anywayKiwisteve wrote:I wouldn't be able to go anywhere later than October, as we start getting real busy at work from late October.
Reddog, if you do the ride you've got a bed in Adelaide and travelling partner part way.
If this goes ahead I'm thinking of incorporating the Bylong Valley into the last day going there (probably Putty 1st) because it looks like there is so much to do in Mudgee there wont be time for a bigger ride on the Saturday. I reckon I'll come home via Broken Hill this time as well.

6 months notice for leave in November, could you get October 2017 applying 17 months out?
There's 3 definites already and I'm sure being up that way and with a year and a half notice we'll get plenty more, I reckon we could nearly set the date and try out your boss's compassion
Re: National meet 2017
Chris and I will be there, if Mudgee is the place.

Re: National meet 2017
Well if it's next year, I want to try and make it also.
It's also an excuse to do a much needed detour, to rain havoc on the Putty, and Oxley Hw on the way down, and on the way back.

How about some where there is more corners and less flat straight highway riding like Bright in Victoria

No question about that James but these are great riding roads (and scenic) - pretty much on Mudgee's doorstep

Re: National meet 2017
The Putty Rd is renowned as one of the best motorcycle rides in the area.
It is also notorious for motorcycle crashes with frequent fatalities. As a result, the speed limits have been dropped and it is heavily patrolled of a weekend.
Still a fantastic ride at legal speed, turn up the wick with caution.
Found in a Putty Rd review
" I'm an occasional rider and a newcastle-based GP. Reading of all the roadside memorials reminded me of a recent conversation with a colleague who staffs the John Hunter Hospital Emergency Department. I was shocked to hear her say that they generally receive at least one motorcycle trauma airlift per week from the putty Rd. "

Re: National meet 2017
This year was in Vic James, you can't have every meet on your doorstep, sometimes we are going to have to travel to make it happen, I've put together a rough route for you, I'm sure with a bit of local knowledge thrown in you can find even more corners to get you thereJimcoleman wrote:How about some where there is more corners and less flat straight highway riding like Bright in Victoria
This include both the Putty and Bylong Valley Way
See you there Jim, you can tell us all about your squared off tyres over a beer
(BTW, personally I reckon Mansfield would be a better town to stay in than Bright)

Just remember Jim, it's not the destination it how you get there that counts.

Re: National meet 2017
BTW it doesn't have to be Mudgee. The main attraction is the Bylong Valley. So if we can't find suitable accommodation in Mudgee one of the nearby towns may suffice
For the time being we can leave it as Mudgee and see how it all pans out. Plenty of time for planning if its going to be October next year.

I've had a look and there seams to be heaps of good accommodation in Mudgee, more than the towns on the Bylong Valley Way put togethermadmax wrote:BTW it doesn't have to be Mudgee. Mudgee itself has so much to offer I'm thinking I'd detour thought the Way the day going there and spend the saturday doing everything in Mudgee.
Depending if I go via Broken Hill on the way there or way home, something like either of these. It'd be good to get a group together for a night at Gilgandra or somewhere near Lithgow and do a group ride in on the Friday
I've never done Putty so that would be my 1st preference and then home to Adelaide via Broken Hill

the 5 hours of Highway riding to Sydney, then dealing with traffic, then traveling on a highly policed road like the Putty sound bloody awesome, but hey lets see what there is to do in Mudgee
