Maybe this year will be hard to top.madmax wrote:Well here we are in May and no suggestions from anyone for what to do next year!

Some suggestions;
Somewhere near Bylong Valley, NSW
Grampians/GOR or somewhere inbetween, Vic
Fleurieu Peninsula, SA (pretty close to Adelaide, I'd do what Ewok did this year and ride over to meet some Eastern Staters if that happened)
close to Adelaide Hills, Mclaren Vale, South Coast, plenty of good riding, plenty of great pubs/accommodation, Wineries etc

Scratch the Grampians, we all know how popular that suggestion went down last time
Bylong Valley has my vote. Central to a lot more members.
Happy to do the Island again.

Re: National meet 2017
I don't mind the Fleurieu Peninsula idea, maybe via a ride through the Grampians on the way over seeing I had overheating issues and missed that part of this year. Day trip on Kangaroo Island ?
Re: National meet 2017
I can't comment at this stage as I have a trip to Darwin in July to get through first. Once that is over I may be able to commit to joining you mob next year

Re: National meet 2017
A tricky question MM. The 'problem' is that the 2016 meet was too successful - we all loved it! If lots of Bandit members are going to go to PI in Feb next year then it might sort of seem like a pseudo Bandit meet, even if it doesn't carry the designation. One option would be to put the Bandit meet at the other end of the year (ie September/October next year) in another location (like the ones you've suggested - I like the Bylong Valley idea) and then PI can happen in its own right, and if Bandit Forum members choose to arrange accommodation together then so be it. If the two events are too close together, people may choose one or the other, and that might jeopardise the annual meet if the majority choose PI instead.

I like your thinking.of moving it to a different time. Maybe November though, hopefully better weather.
Might be worth starting another thread for WSBK so we can see who's interested.

I can't comment on Bylong Weather but as far as the Fleurieu Peninsula go October would be idealmadmax wrote:Which is what happened this year.Ewok1958 wrote:A tricky question MM. for those that have no idea what that region has to offer:
The Adelaide South Coast
Southern Part of the Mt Lofty Ranges (Adelaide Hills)
Wine regions including Mclaren Vale, Currency Creek, Langhorne Creek, Southern Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island
Lower Murray including the lakes and Murray Mouth
Gateway to Kangaroo Island (40min ferry trip)
Plenty of great roads for bikes
Most of it is less than a hour from Adelaide and for those coming from the East it's before you get to Adelaide
There are plenty of house to rent similar to the one we had on Phillip Island, particularly around Goolwa/Pt Elliot and Victor Harbor as well as old pubs in the hills, motels etc etc

I reckon it'd be a great Vic/SA meet, not so much for the rest of the eastern states. A long way for northern NSW and Queensland fellas to come.
Being as this years was in Vic, I think it's only fair to head north again. JMO

Re: National meet 2017
What about Lambert Centre.
The most central point of Australia.
No one can complain then.
But I guess no one would turn up, either.

I understand, but that's why we need to rotate it around.
Anyway if its too late in 2017 I probably wont make it anyway. Not if I'm heading to WA in December

Re: National meet 2017
Speaking of that, If you want company for part of the trip I'd probably be up for a ride to escort you to the WA border (or even Ceduna) especially if you wanted to do the alternate route from Port Augusta - Port Lincoln - Ceduna rather than heading straight across the top of Eyre Peninsulamadmax wrote:Chook wrote:No further than me riding up theremadmax wrote:

yeah mate, would love the company. Maybe_Mike reckons he's coming with me but we'll see if that really happens, haven't seen him in weeks now. We don't call him Maybe_Mike for nothing
As I've gone the easy way every time before, I was thinking from Adelaide to Port Lincoln (655k), then Port Lincoln to the Penong Pub (475k)

Re: National meet 2017
Bloody hell, you'll have to triple you accommodation budget if you want to stay where he is happy
Re: National meet 2017
There is a lot to see on this part of the trip but you need to get (just) off the highway to see it, a few great little spots to visit a few km away from the highway as well, don't rush it

I've been looking for an excuse to buy an adventure bike. But it looks too far for a KLR650! That's the limit of my budget.

Soft, my brother and his neighbour rode to Byron Bay then did a most Easterly to most Westerly point crossing then rode back across the Bight.
On a DR650 and a KLR650.
