Been a bit quiet .................
As some of you are aware , the " paul " household has had a few issues lately , & I've been offline , but I would like to point out it's not because I have the shits with any of my forum friends .Briefly ,I've lost 17 kg in a short few weeks along with a few other problems at which the folk at the hospital threw all their tests , but to no avail ( still got one main one , but most of the nasties have been ruled out ) About half way through this saga , we found out my wife has secondary breast cancer in her sternum ( after 15+ years )She was thought to have had ligament problems , & it was only her own initiative which led to a scan being added to her annual mammogram which showed the real problem . She has now started treatment , & we are still waiting to find out if it is the slow growing type it appears to be ..............fingers crossed .Why a general scan after a few years isn't part of cancer follow up is beyond me , as this has never presented itself in any of the usual mammograms..........I guess life's lesson in this is take nothing for granted & look into anything you are concerned about ; you never know .As I'm sure you will gather ,life's purpose & enthusiasm takes a while to get your head around in cases like this , hence my absence , but we have come to the realisation that feeling miserable for the next x years & not making the most of what you have doesn't work either, and if that means life changes have to be made , so what .
I still intend to frequent the forums I have become part of ..................can't have 2WA catching my post score ................., but would like to offer some insight into what I believe ....... take care of the ones you love ,& take nothing for granted,it's better to be wrong than sorry .

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Paul.
Life is one long procession of curve balls, in my opinion.
I do hope that everything turns out ok for both you and your wife.
Like they say, " It only makes you stronger"
Chin up, pal.

Yep , life sure is a roller coaster ride at times mate , & we still have a few more ups & downs to get through yet ,but at least we are able to talk about it more now . My main reason for posting this up was for this very reason , if anyone has any doubt with regards to any issues they have , medical , mental , or whatever , seek help & talk about it , and don't sweep it under the rug until it is too late .Without trying to be too confronting about this , we hopefully have years left together instead of months left due to just asking the questions & not leaving it .

Thanks for the update Paul.
Best wishes to you and your wife and obviously I hope both issues can be sorted quickly and painlessly.
I don't think theres much hope of me topping your post score. I'm too busy riding
Happy Easter mate.

My positive thoughts are with you Paul.
Its something that seems to affect everybody directly, or indirectly, and would never wish it upon anybody.
But like you say Paul, make the most of what you have.
Try and fit 30hrs in a 24hr day.
I hope the dice rolls a letter from the Queen for you both, when you turn 100.

Hey paul, good to see you back posting. I am one that was aware of your troubles, I was wondering how you were going and hoping you were still out of hospital. Are you home tomorrow?, I'll come for a ride and drop your shirt off if you want a visitor
Re: Been a bit quiet .................

As a cancer victim and still on post-operative follow-up monitoring, I empathize with your troubles. Wishing you and family all the very best for the future.

Yes , it's a shame they know the how & why , & can even isolate the gene in a lot of cases , but the cure still has them stumped .Ewok1958 wrote:As a cancer victim and still on post-operative follow-up monitoring, I empathize with your troubles. Paul, best of luck to you and your wife getting well mate. Cancer definitely touches everyone at some stage in there life whether it be direct or indirect. My wife's 15 year old cousin has just been diagnosed with what sounds like a quite aggressive cancer. Starts putting life into perspective.

Yep, what happens, happens. It's what you choose to do that makes the difference

So sad to hear of your health problems and your wife's. Fingers crossed everything goes well with whatever treatment you can get.
Big hugs for both of you, as you fight the big one, get out and enjoy everyday anyway you can!

The tests showed the cancer has changed ( more aggressive ) , & started to spread . Chemo & different drugs are now the preferred treatment for her starting on the 14th ...............fingers crossed
