Well I dunno about anyone else, maybe I'm a wuss but wrestling with the fuel line drives me nuts and hurts my hand making the removal of the tank a real joy and something I really look forward too NOT. So I made up a tool to make it easy peasy. I'll post picks in the next post.

So here's a look at the tool.
You need to bend the wachimacallit back a tad so you can get the tool on the line, just twist the line so the push tabs are on each side and turn the thumb screws in so they lock the push tabs in, don't over tighten. Then grab the tool and twist n pull, the line comes off easy.

I usually put a bit of 2x1 under the back end of the tank and take the hose of at the bike end instead of at the tank, found that a bit easier. Also gives you sufficient space to hear that click when you connecter it back up.

I find that end even harder. I can't get my hand in there. Must be me then.

I always seem to have the biggest battle with the electrical connector. My fuel line slips on and off with worrying simplicity (but no issues with it letting go thankfully).

Maybe, for peace of mind and ease of removal, a new length of fuel hose could be fitted using hose clamps.
Easy to remove the next time you have to and more secure, in my opinion, than the stock quick release coupling.

I think I need a new line, neither end clicks when I put it back on, looking inside the ends the blue bits that do the holding on caper are a bit deformed where one of the two doesn't return to where it should, you can pull like buggery on the hose but it won't come off. I like the idea of clamping on some "normal" fuel line but still the thought that it might perish at the clamps is a worry, I will be looking into a new line, either oem or clamped? I don't want to be thinking about the fuel line while I'm riding.

With mine, even with the tool holding the tabs in you have to pull and twist pretty hard, mine definitely doesn't want to come off easily. Goes on pretty easy but doesn't want to come off.

I not sure that a standard type hose clamp would hold with the pressure from the fuel pump, especially as the pipe end isn't flared.

FYI if you're looking at changing the clamps the fuel is pressurised at 300kPa (43psi) for the injectors.

where is the pressure regulator Barry, before or after the hose?
The pump I found online earlier said it delivered 90psi

It's in with the fuel pump assembly inside the tank, part #6 on page 1B-1 and 1G-2 in the GSF1250 Service Manual:

Thanks Barry, you know I've pulled all that apart and never noticed it.

Well I knew it would be a rip off, if you have to pay $9 each for exhaust gaskets I just knew the hose would be a joke. Best price I could find, I did find one in the US for $63 but way over $89 once you get it here. I know mine is a bit suss so a new one is peace of mind. Don't wanna be burstin into flames affraid

Good advice, Gus

They use the same fitting on the VStrom

I put a bit of spit on the metal part to help it slide in better (I assume there is something like an O ring inside the fitting).
