Removing the fuel tank
As the title suggests I need to remove the tank to do some wiring and as I've never had the tank off the Bandit I thought I'd ask those who have if theres anything I should be wary of ?
I probably don't even have to take it right off if there's enough slack in the wiring and fuel line - any thoughts gratefully received.

Re: Removing the fuel tank
Once you know where to "feel" for the parts its quite easy . Trouble is you need to fumble through it the first time (like other things )
Remove the 2 bolts at the back of the tank .
Lift back of tank 100mm or so and remove 2 rubber hoses back RHS
Pull tank back 50mm and lift higher (a lot easier if someone holds it for you (This is getting disgusting )Unclip the elec connection .You need to
press a tab with your thumb nail .It can be tight it is awkward .Its RHS just up from center .
Undo fuel line ,only a little will spill out.Line is held on by 2 press tabs .One top one bottom of line .
Remove tank
As i said its a lot easier if someone holds the back of the tank as you will need to search for the parts the first time.
After that its easy .

Re: Removing the fuel tank
Thanks Gus, that's a big help. I think I need to ride a bit first to get the tank nearly empty to keep the weight down as I have to work solo.

Good idea . Block up the back of the tank with a block of wood .The elec. connection is a ***** of a thing.

Syphon the tank dry. It makes it heaps easier. My first time was with a full tank. It was F'ing heavy and awkward.
I've made a jig to hold mine up so you can do the work with the tank still hooked up. Comes in handy when synchronising the throttlebodies anyway

tank removal
You must be psychic as I just came onto the computer from the garage to ask the same question. I have made a metal stand to bolt to the frame and tank mount to check the synch on the throttle bodies. I could only raise the rear of the tank 50/60mm after disengaging the front tang from its rubber mount.
Question: from the answers above I understand all connections must be undone to remove the tank but to do the synch can I get away with removing the hoses only? Other advice??
Cheers

Re: Removing the fuel tank
Get a small tube of dielectric grease from SuperCheap or Repco and smear some on the male electrical connector under the tank. It comes off a lot easier next time!

Re: Removing the fuel tank
Thanks for the pointers, I got enough clearance to do what I needed leaving the fuel and electrical connection attached. Thought I'd save the battle with the electrical connector for another day - it looks like there are two small press tabs that need to be depressed both at the same time - too tired to attack it tonight.
