What are the defects?
The regulator/rectifier power module circuit board may have absorbed moisture during storage in highly humid conditions. This may have reduced the strength of the adhesive used to affix the circuit board to the aluminium case. The heat generated from the power module can cause the power module to lift from the case. What are the hazards?
This condition can cause excessive heat on the module, which can result in insufficient charge current being provided to the battery. This may cause discharging of the battery and can lead to engine stalling or non start condition. This may pose a hazard to the rider or other road users.Where the product was sold

Re: January recall
I spoke with my local Suzuki Rep, he has not seen anything from Suzuki HQ but said it was not unusual for the Aust Govt site to release the information before the dealers know what is happening from head office. He looked over the list and mentioned there seems to be a lot more models than the last time they did a recall on this problem.
He needs my VIN to plug into the Suzuki computer to check if mine is included, simple I thought.....another good thing about Givi panniers/top boxes, the hardware lays right across the VIN plate, but nothing a small camera, mirror and the use of specifically chosen words of encouragement can't fix....

Re: January recall
mine is a 2008 and my local dealer is doing it with no hesitation, he tells me that this is the second recall for this item so some bike will have had the reg/rec changed twice.

A recall is a recall on all products regardless of how many times its changed hands
