2008 Bandit Recall
I have been having battery and charging problems with my 2008 1250 so last wednesday I took it along to Canberra motorcycles in Mitchell ACT to have it checked, I thought it could be the battery so the mechanics did a load charge on it and found it ok so they then checked the charging system and found it has a faulty rectifier/regulater, I mentioned the RECALL and the service manager hadn't heard of it but said he would see what he could find out.I received a call about an hour later saying that the rectifier was on order and also that it is the RECALL problem and will be replaced at no charge. The bike is booked in on Monday 28th march (tomorrow) for the replacement part to be fitted.I think that this great service and hope anyone else who has this problem will have the same service as I had, and to all those service people who claim not to know about it only took a phone call.

I've rang my dealer twice .Both times i had to explain it to them .The last i heard was the bulk shipment was not in Oz.
I want the job travelling around Australia replacing them. Question: Do you get to keep the old one ? I bet you dont.

Re: 2008 Bandit Recall
Got my notice about a week ago, called my dealer and the part came in Saturday. I'm just waiting for the rain to let up (It's spring here in the Tennessee hills and we get lots of rain...40 inches/year is normal) so I can ride up to the shop.

Re: 2008 Bandit Recall
I'll have to see if mine falls within the range. It's not all 1250's is it?
Due for 24k service/arse fooking so I'd like to get something for nothing

Re: 2008 Bandit Recall
Performed my recall parts swap this afternoon. Forth-five minutes in and out. While at the dealer, I heard some disturbing news. The bad part came from an outside supplier and it wasn't just the part that fits 1250's. In fact, it kinda sounded like it might have even gone on other brands as well. (This dealer carries all the Japanese brands.) The guy behind the counter said I was lucky because there were back orders showing up on rectifiers for some of the other bikes. Could this be an earthquake problem? If you think you have an electrical problem it might be worth checking now.

Re: 2008 Bandit Recall
It's a big world wide recall, and this is what they say in the USA:
According to the recall, rectifiers/regulators on bikes built between July 2007 and September 2009 have an inadequate amount of adhesion between the power module and the case, which results in the unit not sufficiently being cooled by its heat sink (affected Suzuki part numbers are: 32800-41F11, 32800-15H10, 32800-05H11, 32800-41G10, 32800-15H00, 32800-18H00, 32800-05G10, 32800-10G10, 32800-05H20, OR 32800-06G01). As a result the unit’s circuit board could warp, and become dislodged from its casing.
Should the rectifier/regulator start malfunctioning because of this condition, the motorcycle would improperly charge its electrical system, likely draining the battery, and possibly causing the motorcycle to stall. Suzuki will notify owners affected by the issue, and a Suzuki distributor will replace the affected part for free. The recall is expected to take place March 2, 2011, the affected models are listed below. Concerned Suzuki owners can contact Suzuki 1-714-996-7040, and as always the NHTSA is available at 1-888-327-4236 or at the safercar.gov website.
