Do we just scrap the national meet and just go for a ride after WSBK

Due to what seems to be a lack of interest I have proposed this Poll

Re: To Grampians or not? That is the question
If there is enough interest I'd like to see it go ahead.
It seems to me that Parkes was about as far as anyone wanted to travel South, I know I had a ball doing the 2 day ride to Parkes as I'm pretty sure the others from SA/VIC/Tas did as well, I'm happy to head closer to QLD in 2017 but it'd be nice to see the same effort in others travelling South

Re: To Grampians or not? That is the question
I'm sure nobody wants to scrap the proposed National Meet. But, scheduling for the weekend after WSBK means people who are planning to go to WSBK will need to take time off before that weekend (for travel), fill in the week days between the two weekends, go and have fun at the Grampians, then then find extra time to get back home. For me, that all adds up to about 14 full days. And those 14 days on the road place a certain demand on the old wallet. I could do one or the other, or both if there was more separation between the events (then I could save up!). Given the commitment to WSBK by a lot of us (and I know of another Bandit forum member in the Bega Valley who is now planning to attend WSBK - not a very active forum member mind you), it gives us a dilemma unless we can do the whole 2 week thing.
The idea of a bit of a ride post-WSBK that could allow some members who might have wanted to attend the Grampians meet to catch-up with those that attended WSBK might be a solution, but it would mean committing to a mid-week overnighter somewhere. It's highly likely that our post-WSBK ride will take us up to the Wangaratta, Eildon, Mansfield, Bright area. There are some great roads to be had there.
I'm not sure I know who was going to go to the Grampians and whether meeting mid week after WSBK is a goer for them?

Re: To Grampians or not? That is the question
The whole idea of having them side by side was make it more possible for those travelling great distance to attend.
Those coming from QLD and upper NSW can travel down the once attend both events and then return home. Those not interested in the Super Bikes could just go to the national meet etc.
I think its great that Phillip Island is coming along well and its looking like it will be a good turn out. I suggest once before that it could be the national event and that didn't go down too well.
Seems now though there has been a lack lustre response to the Grampians. So I'm again asking is it worth the effort? ATM I'm counting a possible 4 attendees.
BTW I'm easy to go with either way.

Re: To Grampians or not? That is the question
I've got an additional expense of catching the red & white tinnie across the Straight, so I did not mind the two-for-one trip, however I do need to book a return trip so I kinda need to know how long I'm going to be away.
But just going over options it might not matter as I'd planned to fill in the week trying to follow the northeast-country crew for a couple of days. I'll be going my own pace so will probably only see them at the rest/meal/overnight stops. Then maybe the GOR via the the Sorrento/Queenscliff ferry (it's a nautical thing, being stuck on an island you kind of get used to seacraft) later in the week heading up to the Grampians for the weekend. If the Grampians is not happening I might try to get to Adelaide, but there is an awful lot of wineries in between.
So at this stage I'm looking at leaving home the afternoon of Wed 24 Feb and probably back to Port Melbourne the afternoon of Tue 8 Mar, however until I book the ferry I'm fairly flexible. Don't even mind the odd camping night, just need to make sure I don't unroll the sleeping bag in the tent until Axel is settled, he pinched it off me last trip.

Re: To Grampians or not? That is the question
Why not just turn the WSBK meet into the National get together meet at the same time. It's not too late to find more accommodation. Most of us will be doing a fair bit of riding getting there and back, and I'm sure that if some want, they can tag along with someone else in another direction just for fun. I will be traveling north to Wauchope to attend another meet that does the Oxley on the weekend after WSBK. Anyone is welcome to come part way, or all the way for that. We are going to have a ball at PI.
ps. I see why you have started the poll MM. I will not vote either way though.

6 replies from 5 posters in nearly a week pretty much sums it up
I reckon the lack of response means a big NO to the Grampians event, pity, the Grampians have some awesome roads and great scenery.
