What covert vehicle have you seen the Police use?
I`d like to start a page for everyone`s right to know, of what vehicles, you have seen the Police use.
I the past, I`ve seen WRX`s used, but I`d like to keep the vehicle list of recent times, unless they`re still being used, then by all means, put it in the list.
Vehicles I`ve seen used recently in QLD are:
VW - Passat
VW -Golf
Toyota -Corolla
Toyota -Rav4

Over here on the "Rock" we only have one sort. A decked out Land Cruiser. On my too few trips to the Big Land I have spotted a couple. My mate John was pulled up on his Tractor Bonneville. I think he was booked for going too Slow ! by a VW Golf GTi. I once pulled up alongside a SS Commodore ute and low and behold it was driven by a uniformed officer of the law. On closer inspection I could tell it was an undercover cop car. It was one time that I let the "car" pull away from me at the green light.

So what is the top speed on the "Rock" Hammy? 60? More of a slalom hey?
Up here, we do have the obligatory:
Cruisers....I-Load vans, Then the undercover: Commodores.....Camrys......Falcons......Pathfinders
The one that caught me off guard the other day, was the Corolla. No tinted windows, and she was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

60 on the main road that runs right down the middle of the island. And 50 on all other streets.

Down here they are mainly using the falcons and commodore sedans, but even the marked cars are getting difficult to spot with the low slung roof lights. I'm suspicious of anything on the horizon with roof racks these days.
Want to extend the list to road-side camera vehicles as well, they're getting round in smaller SUV's rather than the big white vans these days. Actually I find one of the hardest things to spot down here are the police dog/tradesman type camera trailers, they are clearly marked and not usually hidden, but I always have to double check the speedo whenever I pass one.
BTW, we stayed on Hanny's island once, actually found it too crowded

Re: What covert vehicle have you seen the Police use?
Tue last week I got knocked off by a dark VF Commodore.
I was concentrating too much on missing the potholes and will pay the price.
How much? I don't know. I couldn't put the side stand down because the bike would have sunk in the gravel so they didn't ask again for my license. Just asked if the steed was registered to me and they will post the fine out.
Its probably in the range of 3 points but I hope they were in a good mood........

"Hello, is that the National Terrorist Hotline, I think I see two terrorist in cam uniforms aiming what appears to be a rocket launcher at unsuspecting motorist in the Yarra Valley, what's that ? you're sending an attack drone aircraft over now, good....:"
Whilst looking for the above photo I also came across this one of some signs that popped up in California Bay area, the CHP says they are fake, but a few of their senior police officers were seen rubbing their hands together.....:

Last night I was parked at traffic lights waiting to turn over Port Rd and was cursing the Nissan Patrol behind me with the very bright lights shinning in all 3 mirrors. Next thing it takes off over a very wide median strip in a hell of a hurry, by the time it's onto the bitumen there were blue and red flashing light coming from under every corner of it's roof racks

There's now an unmarked Hayabusa or two getting around southeast queensland, complete with LIDAR. Only real giveaway are the helmet and panniers. Pretty much only 5-0 would put panniers on a 'busa

Well at least it shouldn't have any worries about the extra weight.

Re: What covert vehicle have you seen the Police use?
A while ago I was taking Jan to a bike shop to pick up her bike after a tune up. I used the bicycle lane on the far left at a set of lights. Got the hole shot and cruised to the shop. When we got there, Jan asked me, "Did you see the two uniformed cops in the car that was next to us at the lights" ? Oooops . No I didn't even look.

Camera or laser gun?Dazzalar62 wrote:Amazed last week a police bike cop with camera sitting inside a cemetery entrance beyond the gates. SNEAKY. SA police.
SA Police don't use cameras with bikes (the camera operators aren't police officers) but they do use them a lot for traffic duties
