GSF250V issues..
Hey guys.
Picked up a little 2000 GSF250V over the weekend. Had a little fart in her stride around 11k-redline. Guy said he took the little baffle out of the filter. I thought, yeah fair enough. I've had a carby bike before. I know that silly things upset the bike. Brought it. Came home happy.
Thats where the happy stops.
Bike started to kinda miss (not really a miss, just didn't rev smoothly) after first start up. Taking off, would fart around, but would come good after about 6k revs. Replaced the airfilter. Stopped doing the upper revs thing. But still doing the lower revs thing. Sitting at the lights, if I sit there long enough. I can smell fuel, and then taking off it does the same thing. Bit of rough rev until about 6k, where its good again. Fuel economy is poor. 170KM's before reserve. Other then those. It pulls well whole rev range. Doesn't hunt at the lights. Isn't running hot. Doesn't stall or hang when you blip the throttle. Starting it (hot, or cold) requires throttle though.
This is my first bandit. I can't find anyone else with similar issues. What am I looking at to rectify this?

Do the basics first.
Does hesitation continue if part choke is used?
Does it blow black smoke (fuel)
If no improvement:
These are high revving low torque engines and anything not quite right will show up.
I think they're the same or similar engines to the Across so a search of a forum for them might shed some light as well. Good luck.
- Plugs
- Fresh fuel
- Check vacuum lines
- Check for cracks on inlet boots
- Return air box to standard
- Return muffler to standard if you can
- Check choke operation

If no improvement:
- Check valve clearances
- Service all carbies

Re: GSF250V issues..
New plugs already,
airfilter replaced, stock box,
Vacuum lines look good,
No carb boot leaks,
Choke works,
Where can I get a carb rebuild kit from? I can't seem to find anything. Same with the petcock rebuild..

Sounds like needles and or float levels.JRancher wrote:Just pulled carbs off. Its a constant drip from carb 2 and 3.

A Google search came up with not much but have a look here.

Hope the iPad link works. If not search for GSF250 Bandit Carb
Re: GSF250V issues..
I'd say needles need replacing. Also sounds like it's running way too rich as that fuel consumption is bullshit for a 250
