Givi Parts
Hi folks
I had Givi V35 panniers put on the GSX1250 about a year ago and am looking to get the parts required to fit an V46 topcase. I am looking see if I need to refit the panniers onto a new rack now I need to setup a topcase or do i just buy a new rack to add on. I have part numbers for the top case and liner but not sure which frame and topcase plate I need. I have searched the archives but not found an answer. I know some of you guys have the kit, so hope you can set me in right direction...
Cheers

Re: Givi Parts
Top box rack will fit in with the pannier racks, where ever you buy the top box should be able to supply recommended mount plate. This was my experience anyway.

Re: Givi Parts
Fitting kit as mentioned above is the 539FZ, the plate is the M5 as the V46 is a Monokey topbox - it has two "key" ways to help secure it (like your V35 panniers), you will need to source both the rails and the plate. The Monokey is is a better locking solution than the Monolock (M5M) that Givi restrict to their smaller top-boxes
Re: Givi Parts
Great thanks guys that is exactly what I was looking for. Do most people use the 46litre top box and does it sit well proportionately on the bike as it seems like a big piece of kit. Just want to make sure I don't get something too big as I will buy from Italy and won't be easily able to return. Some of the archive photos make it seem a bit big. I am not planning on doing a load of touring and one crash helmet storage is enough for me. I would just like to make sure it keeps the sexy lines of the good old GSX!!!!

Re: Givi Parts
A small box will always look like a lunch box strapped to the back of your bike , & a large one will always be a ...............well , large box strapped to the back of your bike . the thing is , if you need one ( only form of transport , or just bloody handy ) you have to weigh the benefits over the disadvantages & decide if you put one on your bike ...............I couldn't do without mine ( older square model ) for convenience & security .

Re: Givi Parts
The Monokey cases whilst varying capacities, all can carry up to 10kgs, the smaller Monolock units are only rated at 3kg.
There's a couple of new cases on the market since I got my E55 (V47, V56). The style is a personal choice, there are now smoked or red "lens" and some can be ordered with different coloured panels (or you can paint them yourself afterwards). Size wise there is not much difference, ranging between 310-330mm tall, 450-480mm deep, and 555-600mm wide.
Interesting that some of the "smaller" monolocks are actually taller than their bigger brothers. Personally I think most of the monolocks are disproportionate between height and width.

Re: Givi Parts
Thanks again. Will use one of the italian eBay suppliers and get some quotes in.
