What's in the Standard Tool pouch? GSX1250FA 2015
Hi
So what is suppose to be in the tool kit that comes with the 2015 model?
I have attached a pic of what came with mine and ,as you can see, it doesn't even come with a spark plug spanner.
So what did you guys get in your kits?
Richard

Looks like you're missing the rear axle nut spanner too.
If you bought the bike new, you should go back to the dealer and ask for your plug spanner and axle spanner.
Most of the tools are pretty ordinary, but those two are likely to be needed on the road some day.

My 2010 1250s was missing an Allen key to fit the bolts that holds/adjusts the mirrors. I didn't realise until one of the mirrors became loose and I couldn't tighten it.

Luxury! I changed out the back axle adjusters for stainless steel but failed to notice that I then needed a 13mm spanner in the kit... until I was in the wilds of Victoria and needed to adjust the chain.Ewok1958 wrote:My 2010 1250s was missing an Allen key to fit the bolts that holds/adjusts the mirrors. Hi
Got a reply from the Suzuki Dealer about the tool kit.
"I checked with Suzuki and the tool kit on that bike is correct. There may have been more tools on earlier models possibly but that is what they come
with now. Perhaps now they may figure you won’t need them hopefully.
Also I looked at another new GSX 650 model that we have hive which is a very similar bike and it has the exact same kit."
So that sucks..no plug spanner or rear axle spanner and Suzuki think that's a good idea !!!
New question..is the GSX1250FA spark plug size the same as the GS1200SS ?
Thanks
Richard

Re: What's in the Standard Tool pouch? GSX1250FA 2015
stingy bastards.
it should at least come with a plug socket.
as for the axle nut spanner, I like more leverage than what they did supply.
When I rode down to Philip Is, the lads I rode with laughed, when I pulled out my torque wrench to adjust the chain. If I go on a long trip, I don't leave home without it
It ended up being a 10 000k round trip

If the axle nut isn't over torqued that poxy little extension is all you need for the rear axlemtbeerwah wrote:

your right, with the extension it can be used.
I recall the first time I used it, and went...nahhh, I`ll use and take my torque wrench, cause I know I can easily pack it.
But once again, only on a long trip, other wise not necessary.

Those axle nuts seem to bond themselves on even when torqued properly on rare occasions.....................we did an emergency chain adjustment at Phillip island on my sons bike once & had a hell of a job undoing it ..............still better than having nothing though ; I think I would buy one just in case if I didn't have one .Chook wrote:If the axle nut isn't over torqued that poxy little extension is all you need for the rear axlemtbeerwah wrote:

Re: What's in the Standard Tool pouch? GSX1250FA 2015
I was in a hurry adjusting my chain one day, put a bit longer extension on than I should have, didn't use the tension wrench and managed to stop as I felt the thread stretch, one 2nd hand axle and nut required from ebay USA before the next adjustment
I've always used the tension wrench since, if I have to use the supplied one I'd err on the side of caution, I'm pretty sure even with that little extension supplied it wouldn't be hard to over tighten the nut.

It is for adjusting the preload on the rear shock Davo. It engages a castellated nut which compresses or releases tension on the spring.

i leave mine in the garage and replaced it with a puncture repair kit. if the bike ever stops on me nothing in the tool kit will help. i keep a couple of allen keys in the puncture kit
Re: What's in the Standard Tool pouch? GSX1250FA 2015
Has anyone had the pleasure of using a puncture kit which consists of the "glue covered plugs", a reamer (to make the puncture worse!!), an insert tool and several CO2 cartridges.potatomasher wrote:i leave mine in the garage and replaced it with a puncture repair kit. if the bike ever stops on me nothing in the tool kit will help. i keep a couple of allen keys in the puncture kit
I have but I wouldn't call it a pleasure
My experience occurred one sunny morning at Cobar when we discovered a puncture caused by three rusty nails (presumably from a nail gun) in the back tyre.
The rusty nails were removed and the tyre started to deflate slowly.
Pushing the reamer through the tyre causes the air to be released even quicker to the point where the tyre would flex and the reamer would be touching the inside of the wheel making it difficult to enlarge the hole.
We attached the first of the CO2 cartridges to the tyre and continued reaming. The CO2 lasted at least 5 seconds and we were back to a flat tyre.
A better plan was required.
One of my travelling companions had a 12volt mini compressor with him.
We connected the compressor and with the tyre kept semi inflated were able to finish reaming and get the plugs into the hole.
Without the compressor I consider we would not have got the puncture fixed.
I rode on the tyre for a further 8000Km so the repair was a success.
I think the greatest benefit from the repair kit is it keeps you entertained while you wait for the RACQ to arrive.
Quite seriously, next time you are ready for a tyre change, drill a hole on the tyre and attempt a repair with your repair kit in your garage at home.
You will get a successful repair with the aid of an air compressor as I did but as for the CO2 cartridges .................

Re: What's in the Standard Tool pouch? GSX1250FA 2015
I have been caught with a flat in the rear tyre a couple of years ago. I used one of those kits.
I didn't have a problem with the reamer like you did.
The problem i had was trying to insert the plug and retrieve the tool without removing the plug each time.
Also 3 CO2 cartridges are not enough to fully inflat the rear tyre. I had to ride a few ks to workshop to get it fully inflated.
I now carry a mini compressor as well as the repair kit.
