What Bike Would You Buy Back
Last night I accidently found my old FZ1 for sale.
I'd be very tempted to rehome it (great price) if I wasn't heading off on holidays in a couple of weeks.

Probably my old 350 Four Honda if I could get it at the price I sold it for and in the same condition. It would restore very nicely.
PS: that FZ1 does seem to be at the right price.

Probably my first bike , for sentimental reasons ...............I don't remember why , but I had a reason to sell all the others , & I'm sure the the reason would become apparent if I ever rode them again

Most of them. But in particular the XT550. It was a hoot.

Well here they are: It was a fun ride, with a very torquey and flexible engine. So much so that it was not unusual to get an accidental wheel stand in changing from 1st to 2nd when getting a little enthusiastic in traffic. Great geometry and weight distribution - totally at home on loose gravel roads (highway speeds on loose surfaces), lots of suspension travel, simple to maintain and repair. Enough legs go "take to town" (Melbourne is 265 kays away) and fun in city traffic, easy to ride over curbs to park. It didn't attract a second glance when used to transport unusual loads (40 kg bags of chook pellets for example) Looked rough enough so appeared to have no attraction for thieves. Mine never got parked under cover - rain or shine, it was just parked in front of the house. It was also surprisingly easy to start for a big single. Awesomely reliable.
I could still track it down and buy it back - it is still local, but I think collecting dust in a shed somewhere. I've got a standard 600cc barrel and piston here somewhere. If I can confirm the fit, I might just do that. I know I'd be needing to do a complete rebuild. I sold it with 80K having gone to the 1st oversize at 40K It was in need of the second when I sold it. EVERYTHING would need inspection/ replacing. I really don't need the project, but maybe one day. Pleasant fantasy.

Re: What Bike Would You Buy Back
All of that is applicable for my XL as well jstava, plus I could push that thing on trail tyres through the tight stuff in the Adelaide Hills quicker than any road bike I've owned, others would get me on the straights but never in the corners
..............as for torque and 2nd gear monos, get that wheel up and you could keep it there forever

Re: What Bike Would You Buy Back
My first big bike.
A 1982 Honda CB750F2 I purchased new in Holland and round Europe for 2 months, then had it shipped home. I kept it for 18 years & sold it in 2000 for about the same money I had paid for it when I bought a Honda CBR1000f.
Strangely enough I came across it for sale on Bike Sales 12 months ago for again the same price I paid & sold it for.
I was very tempted to buy it back for nostalgia but figured I would probably never ride it anyway.
BUT then, if it came up again I might change my mind!
