Ride Video. Forgotten World Highway
hi folks.
I commmute with a mate of mine who rides a GSX650F. A couple of times a year he does a short trip with his kids and their partners. All his kids ride which is pretty cool. I was invited along on a trip over 1st and 2nd of January this year.
We did a loop taking in most of the central North Island of NZ. Wellington to Hawkes Bay, to Taupo and then to Taranaki taking in a road known as The Forgotten World Highway or State Highway 43.
Three of us had cameras and I got most of the footage together to make this movie. Its almost 15 minutes long but I hope its not boring.
Thought I would share and also seek feedback on the shooting and editing. I was the only one who could change camera position incidentally.
You can view this in 1080HD if you like.
Anyway, here is a little bit of NZ for all you heathen Aussies, this is what Godzone looks like

Great video ...........looks like you almost had as much fun putting that together as the ride . Very pretty place.
Where were all the sheep though ? Did they have fore-warning you were coming & run & hide ?

Yep was a great thing to do. The more I do this, the more convinced I am that shooting 40 or 50 minutes of video in one hit is a recipe for disaster, at least when it comes to editing! It was fun however to try and capture the trip from a few perspectives, multiple cameras on multiple bikes helps big time.
In the future I would love to shoot more footage from an off bike angle. Anyone who watched Ewen and Charlie's documentaries will have seen bits where the Swiss cameraman races ahead, sets up and gets great shots of the riders coming through. That kind of thing.
Most of my vids are on another channel where the username is the same as mine here
If you type "TheUlsterkiwi" in a search on Youtube they should come up. There are even a few from Australia, some of the best diving I have done.

Diving certainly looks like your other passion judging by your videos

some of them do, they are called the Labour party.....
yeah Scuba is a fantastic sport. It can be hard to find time for both. My wife dives, which is great. She has been enjoying pillioning with me of late but is getting bored of looking at my back, I think we will be a two bike family in the not very distant future

Your hopes have been realised - no way is it boring.
