Sunday 20th May.
Only just over a week until our planed ride around Mt Tamborine area. So far it looks like a definite six starters including our guide for the day, QuizGuy. Plan is to meet up at QG's place around 10am and start from there. Anyone here interested could drop a PM to QG or myself for details. Fingers crossed that this glorious weather is here to stay for a while.

Hi Hammy,
She rides a Honda VTR 250 at the moment.
She is getting a Bandit in August once she is off her RE License.

Re: Sunday 20th May.
It is such a beawwwutiful day today and I am sure tomorrow will be just as good..I hope we get a good turnout...recap: meet at my place (pm me if you dont have the address) Big garage where you can dump anything you want before the ride.. will make a pot of coffee for a quick hit before we go... if anyone is running late you can message me ( pm me for my phone number) and if you are not far away we will wait.. 10 am if possible for a 10.30 departure. remember it gets a little cold up there. Lunch up the mountain - a couple of choice spots - and a different ride back... open invite for anyone who wants to hang back a bit after the ride for socialisation etc.. Sausage sizzle maybe...
Re: Sunday 20th May.

Looking forward to it. Does anyone carry a puncture repair kit and CO2 canisters - just in case?
Just seen a puncture ruin a blokes ride once about 5 minutes into it.

Us Islanders, We came , we saw, we conquered that Mount Tamborine and sent it packing back to to Salvation Army Band where it belongs.
What a fantastic day for a ride and to meet up with some nice friendly folk. Firstly, a HUGE big thank you to Quizguy for planning, and guideing us on our little get together ride. Cheers mate. The first of many more we hope. ( see ya soon Gus ! ). The day didn't start out too good though. One of our Islanders, Andre, had to pull out at the last minute. The barge was ten minutes late and then Jan had to pull out after only a few ks because of a terribly sore right thumb. She had had some neddles in it on friday to try and help with the swelling and pain but to no avail. She turned back to home because she knew it would only get worse and she didn't want to hold us up. We rendezvoused at QGs place around 10:30 and after a quick introduction we eight riders set off for a pleasant ride up into the Tamborine Mountain countryside. Lots of cars and bikes out, and Mr plods, so it was just a nice peaceful paced ride. Taking in all the beautiful scenery. We passed literally hundreds of other bikers out doing the same as us, with one group of Harleys that had well over 100. The tow truck operators were in for a big afternoon. We made our way up the mountain following our guide. Even up a one way, traffic light operated section that QG called the 'goat track' . Stopped at a lovely scenic lookout for a stretch. The little township was busting at the seams, it was that busy with weekend sight seers. We then went to the St Bernards Hotel for a pit stop. Great pub with fantasic views, cold beer, and $20 Chicken burgers Was great to meet up with Buck, who made the extra effort to come and meet us islanders at the barge terminal. DMoney and partner, who had no trouble in keeping up on her jazzy little 250. Ironman, whom I was not going to pass, because anyone with 'Iron' in their name is to be respected. Ian, from here on the island. MAN his B Kings Yoshi's sound awsome. Brett on his SV1000. And again QG, the technical wizz who filmed , directed and choriographed the whole ride. Cant wait till the next one.
I will not name names, to protect the innocent, and YES that is my High chair.

Re: Sunday 20th May.
Great wrap up Hammy.
Marissa & I loved this ride & are keen to do it again soon.
The gravel road down the mountain on the way home was a bit iffy but overall had a great time, all your bikes seemed to handle the gravel ok but mine was all over the place!!.
Agree about Ians bike, what a beast!! I will try not to nearly run up his rear end next time also! The B-King certainly pulls up better than a bandit with a fat guy on it..
Come August Marissa will have a bigger bike to help keep up on the climbs but the little VTR did well overall.
The Speedo & trip meter stopped working on the VTR during the gravel road run so I will have to get that looked at (torn though, some free K's are always good!).
Hope to see you all again soon.
