Dremel... The end.
Had a cheap one and it was shit. Burnt out after a small amount of work. I went for the corded variety rather than battery and love it.
This cost about $100

Not sure what operation you tried to perform with your Dremmel Jim but as far a Data Dots go, they are good when they are new or when not effected by heat, engraving will still be there after years of riding.Jimcoleman wrote:i have one2wheelsagain wrote:Who has a Dremmel type tool?

The dots the are "Retro Fitted" also contain no information relating to you or your vehicle, after being read the investigator has to contact Data Dot to find out who or what belongs to the Dots, original ones on vehicles (not Yamahas) contain the vehicle's VIN so if they are legible the investigator can see if they are where they belong straight away

The bloke on telly reckons the Twist-a-saw is the best.
But wait. If you buy it in the next thirty minutes they'll throw in a multi purpose handle, a vacuum hose, a circle cutter, over 280bits and aaccessories.
But wait. That's not all. You'll also get......

I have never owned a dremel but have purchased 3 "el cheapo" units and still have 2 working.
For light duty tasks the cheapies are fine but if you are a person who appreciates good tools then there is no contest.
A bit like buying cheap wine (Paul, where are you?)

I would go the dremmel ( electric cord type ) .......a much nicer tool to use than the cheapies & generally gives good service life . Like MM said , the flexible extension is also very handy .

Re: Dremmel Type
I've got the basic, original small electric Dremel. It's a very handy little tool when nothing else will do. Great for very fine work when your basic 4 " angle grinder is 20 times too large. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably go the larger, more powerful model with a flexible shaft - better control because its easier to hold. This one was a gift. Gives no signs of giving up after at least 10 years of occasional use but I won't get another just for the extra grunt or convenience. No need. I just don't use it that often - probably a couple dozen times a year. Good little tool.

FWIW it's worth I buy the Ozito and then shell out for the genuine Dremmel bits, (disc's, rotary files etc.). I apply this strategy to all the 'occasional use' tools with good results.
