Front Stand
To compliment my Sharp Racing rear stand I picked up a front Stand from http://stores.ebay.com.au/Kaneg-Motorcycle-Accessories last week. Only got to assemble and use it today after work and I must say its great value. It arrived in 4 days with a discount voucher for my next purchase
The quality of finish is at least as good as the Sharp unit and I dont know why I put off for years getting one of these things.
If you dont have one, get one!

Re: Front Stand
Why would you need a rear paddock stand when your bike has a centre stand?

Re: Front Stand
I always use the rear stand over the centre stand as well. Not sure why. i just prefer it.

Because it makes you feel like a member of the motogp paddock. Its also more stable when you have both wheels out at the same time
The front stand we use is different though, it has a pin that goes into the hole under the head stem to lift the front up.

Well I must just be a cheap bastard then because when I take the front and rear wheels off together I use the centre stand and a couple of bricks wedged under the lower frame rails.

Considering that it's spring loaded, I'd never work on a bike that was relying on the centre stand as the primary means of support.
One shove in the wrong direction, and (potentially) off it goes...

Re: Front Stand
It would have to be a pretty decent shove.
The only spring loaded part of the centre stand is what keeps it in the up position. The springs have nothing to do with keeping the bike itself upright. All of which is a moot point because I only fit the centre stand to work on it as it is far too heavy and ugly to justify leaving it there permanently.
I have completely rebuilt this bike using only ever the centre stand and some bricks. I have never had a problem nor come even close.

Re: Front Stand
Then there's the convienence of having both wheels off the ground in 20 seconds. Whatever works is ok by me.

The only reason I have ever needed both wheels off the ground was when I was removing the front end, which renders the front stand previously mentioned quite useless.
I would consider the need for both wheels off the ground quickly if I purchased a track bike and some tyre warmers.

...and perhaps you never will (have problems, that is).
Having said that, just because something is possible, doesn't necessarily make it right (or safe).

Re: Front Stand
It must be the precious season…………
The primary use for my front stand is making cleaning the front wheel easier. For the cost of about 2 slabs of beer it was a good buy for me Its up to others whether they use them or not

I'm sorry, but I don't see the correlation between riding a motorcycle and working on a piece of machinery supported by construction materials.
My point was not to be "precious", but it appeared from your comment that you were questioning the logic of purchasing a paddock stand, when one could instead use pavers for the task.
As 2Wheelsagain implied - each to their own. So good luck with that.
