Oxford Grips Version 1 million
Recently the smoke came out of the third Oxford controller I have attached to the original grips on the Bandit and being an utter bonehead I bought another. By the time the smoke comes out Oxford has worked out that that model was a dud - let's try another.
The last models inline switching block the size of a housebrick is gone and there is only one controller unit.
Their new blurb states "We have recently learned that we are not very good at preventing our products from setting fire to motorcycle batteries so we've tried a little harder this time."
The controller now won't run the grips unless it "detects noise" in the power supply indicating that the engine is running.
So I of course trusted them and wired em up straight from the battery (you will note that I recently stated I am a bonehead)
Turned them on at rest - voltage was 12.6 dropped to 11.9 with the grips at 100%. After 2 mins a warning led started flashing and the grips turned off. After 5 mins the controller shut off.
Hooked up a charger - voltage was 13.2 dropped to 12.8 with the grips at 100%. After 2 mins got the led , grips shut off. At 5 mins the controller shutoff.
Started the bike and the grips ran all toasty forever. Shut the motor off - After 2 mins the grips shut off. After 5 mins the controller likewised.
I'll post up again when the smoke comes out of them.
