Lions Road TT
The Guys n Gal from the Drake ride will remember the Lions Road. Could you imagine a TT being held on it. http://www.bikepoint.com.au/content/news/2014/The-Lions-TT-Motorcycle-Festival-43906
Some might even get lost on it ! Max.

Well that would be no use. Everyone would have the same time. .............. Except for MadMax.

Re: Lions Road TT
It would probably make it more "T" than "TT" as well

Re: Lions Road TT
Lets hope it gathers some momentum and turns into an annual event. Australia needs more bike related motorsport, and venues.

I can see a few accidents happening, even with the 'travel at the speed limit' rule. Competition will bring out some aggressive riding and I'll be they won't police every km of it. The competitors won't be able to help themselves into thinking it's a time-trial, and just giving it a bit more right wrist! (well I would!)

Well, that blows that idea.
It's on at the start of my holiday and planned trip to Tassie. I was seriously considering heading north for this event and then back down to do Tassie, but the street legal speed race...pfft!
I can watch bikes doing the speed limit any time from the comfort of my lounge room.
It's a sad state of affairs. Insurance and the litigious society that we have adopted from "The Greatest Nation on Earth" seems to put the kibosh on so many events.
Get the participants to sign a waiver, get the spectators to sign one too. Make it an insurance free zone for the event.
They manage to keep the IOM TT going, despite the fact that participants and others die every year.
Surely there must be a leaf that can be taken from their book.

It is still in the planning stages so there is some hope. I can see it being a great event. A race in fact, from Qld - NSW. Over a roller coaster. I maybe going to the "Drake" on the 5th - 6th of next month. Would like to ride the road from North to South, as I have only done it the other way.

Re: Lions Road TT
Sometimes in life the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
But i am sure most people would keep it within their own riding capabilities, besides, accidents happen everyday so there is a potential for something to happen for sure, but it would be reduced by not having the oncoming vehicles.
I can think of so many roads I have been on that would be great to stage a similar event on.
A couple of years back, I went for a ride through the Royal National Park near Sydney, about half way through there was a large tree down across the road meaning not a single thing could pass, so I turned around and went back. When I got back to the start of the park, I realised that nothing had passed me going the other way and as there is no side streets or driveways in the park, I would have a clear run with no -one else on the road, so I turned around and rode back towards the fallen tree.
Now I must say that I didn't exactly sit on the 60km/h limit, I just rode my Bandit and enjoyed the moment, not once did I look at the speedo or in the rear view mirrors or for Police hiding in the bushes, my 100% concentration was on the road, the sound of the engine and the feel of the tyres on the ground and it was one of the best rides I have had. Sure I would have nudged it up to 120-130kph, but I felt so comfortable in the moment, more so than when I cruise through there at 80 clicks and am constantly looking at the speedo, mirrors etc.
This was before my first laps on a race track and is the same feeling you get when only concentrating on the road and bike, it was wonderful.
So I think the Lions TT is a great concept and will allow participants to experience their local road in a totally different light!!!!
Enjoy, all who get there. Hopefully it is a success so that the concept may spread to other areas in Australia!
Where else would people like this to take place?
I reckon they should they should do it on either the Black or Reefton Spur in Vic around the time of the GP and organise a window of time so fans can do it the week before the race.
