Engine Case Bolts Swap
Has anyone replaced their B1250 engine case bolts with Stainless Steel Allen Head bolts?
If so did you buy locally or from eBay? Are all the bolts the same length? What size threads?
Just thought seeing as I have to splash some paint around I might as well change the bolts over to look a bit better
Any info appreciated.

I used to look at the stainless bolt kits that they sell on ebay. That's the way I would go. Would take too long to go searching for them yourself. Then its just a case of pulling out an old one, and then finding one identical to replace it with. Personally I would only go with SS. I'm not into the coloured ones. Best of luck 2W.

Yep mate I've bought stuff for the VTR off those guys and the service was pretty good.
Was just thinking I might be able to get them just as cheap locally if I knew what I needed to buy The local bolt shop doesnt even charge if I come in and ask for 1 of something so I sort of feel like I owe them I'll be in there today asking for 1 m5 X 25mm SS flange head bolt
Re: Engine Case Bolts Swap
Yeah, our bolt shop in Capalaba is like that. But for $25 dollars you get all the ones you need at the right size. Some of the case cover bolts are different lengths. Might take a few trips to the shop.

You might even find some of them are non standard lengths and might have to be cut down to suit if you buy them locally. I'm with Hammy, just get the ones you know are the right length already
Re: Engine Case Bolts Swap
Then you could measure them for us so we could go down to the local Nuts & Bolts and price up the set, however I wouldn't be surprised that the eBay kit comes in a lot cheaper.
I had some SS bolts that came with a set of LED spotties for the car about 2 or 3 years ago. As these were all suffering from surface rust I recently got Marine Grade SS from N&B, however they charged a fair bit for them, IIRC it was about $20 for 4 bolts and nyloc nuts.

Find the longest one . Take it to nut and bolt shop ." 20 of these please ".Cut down to shorter size yourself .
If you ask " one of this size ,one of that size ect ,ect they will charge you double . (and rightly so )
Don't forget to polish them (heads )with a buff even when new .

Thanks. So the lengths do vary. Bugger.
I'll have a buff on my drill ready to go
Re: Engine Case Bolts Swap
I bought the EBay one. All the same length from memory, good quality and cheap. Highly recommended

98% are the same length from memory .2 are a bit shorter? There are 2 seals on 2 bolts (washer type) , just remember which ones .
Trouble is they look so good you end up doing EVERYTHING .

Hi mate,
It might pay to put some never seize on the bolts to stop the chemical reaction from stainless and ally.

Good one. Thanks.
I ordered the eBay set last night.
Got an email this morning saying they had been posted.
I think when I bought stuff from them last time I had it in 4 days.

Careful what you buy in Stainless steel bolts. Some are not really S/S. A magnet doesn't stick to S/S
