Cable Ties - How to open the packet
Sounds like a pretty in depth thing to discuss.
How many times have you cut (or ripped) a hole in the end of a packet of cable ties, then put the packet into your toolbox?
The next time you open the toolbox the cable ties have "escaped" and are now spread out everywhere.
I have the solution to your dilemma.
Tear or cut a hole in the centre of the bag
Grab a cable tie at the centre and pull it from the bag
Note: I do not charge for these "gems of wisdom"

Re: Cable Ties - How to open the packet
I won't take credit for someone else's idea.
I probably spotted it on a job site and said to myself "someone is not bright enough to open the packet correctly"
Some time later on I thought about it and realised it was not silly at all. What a clever person.
That breach birth comment reminds me of when I was working with the Navy many years ago.
Someone near me started eating a banana.
My boss an RAN officer suggested to him that he should eat it "side saddle" so as not to get a bad reputation.

I just open the packet and tip the ties into a large container with has a assortment of different ones.
Your idea would be handy for the car and camper trailer

Re: Cable Ties - How to open the packet
Or you could sacrifice one cable tie and wrap it around the packet to hold them all together.
Anyway you young guys are spoilt... in the old days we used to loom cables together with thin plastic string

In the "real olden days" we used to lace cables with waxed lacing twine (string)

WTF - I'm searching for a piece of waxed string and finally figured you was referring to age.
Too many birthdays I think it must be time for a holiday.

Re: Cable Ties - How to open the packet
I remember converting from wax string to wire wrap. It was great when printed circuit boards finally came round, then they had to go multilayer and it got as complicated as before trying to trace a link.
We didn't touch transistors until our 3rd year at (Army) Apprentice School, this was only 5 years after the first (CMOS) CPU was made (the Intel 4004). Now that's show some age.....
