Sorry to hear you are selling the old girl mate.

Re: 2004 Bandit 1200s
Been contacted by a couple of people asking my lowest price, but still not sold. It's in great nic and won't disappoint.
$3500
I'm quite keen to sell it, and at that price you could have a track bike with rego.

Good on you mate - IMHO you've bought one of the great bargains. Tony is a gent.

Yes. I spoke with Tony last night. Seems very sad to be letting her go, but happy that she's going to a bike nut.
Managed to scrounge enough folding together, out of the holes in the wall, that we're going two up today to pick up the new addition to the family.
Make an overnight sexy time of it to boot.
Chris and I, that is. Lol. When I read that back, it sounded like Tony was a Really nice guy.

Well, Tony trully is a gentleman. Very helpful and informative about his Bandit. Sad to let her go, but needs as must.
Thanks again, Tony. Rest assured that Bandit II will be looked after.
The ten minutes that I got to ride her was great. As soon as I commented on how good the heated grips were, Chris started swearing at me. So to be fair, we swapped bikes and you should have heard Chris belly laughing at how toasty her hands were within minutes. Her laughter kept me warm.
A quick squirt back to Goulburn and roast dinner at the Diggers.

To be honest MtB, your write up on your rebuild, whetted my appetite for a 1200.
I remember my oil/air gsxr motor with great fondness and have had my eye open since your description. How is your big girl settling in?

It`s done 1500k`s now. Using a bit of fuel at the moment, so needs to be properly jetted to suit, and still to put the headers on.
I won`t be doing any air box mods anytime soon,
At the moment still has standard air box and headers, and pulls like a freight train, Hasn`t got the low down torque of an 1250, but by 3500-3800 is spooling, and just keeps on increasing to 10 500. I won`t take it more than that, and 11 000 is redline.
A bit scary the first time I hit it in first, but just feed it and all is sweet.
It is very user friendly, and just torquing it around in mid range is so different than the stock motor, just pulls hard and pleasant to ride.
It is different than Rolls though, having both gix 1100 cams, and the increase in cubes, along with the head flow.
But Rolls has no airbox and probably higher comp, along with the 750 cam, so will be a nice weapon within it self, and if you didn`t buy it, I would have, and he`s giving it away in my opinion.
You lucky bastard!!

Re: 2004 Bandit 1200s
Bosco, I hope you had a warm(ish) ride back to Goulburn.
I had a used GSXR750 (88) intake cam in it and it was a surprising difference to the stock cam. When I shaved the head, and looked to replace the chain, sprockets, tensioner and cam, I researched Suzuki cams. They are all interchangeable for (I think) 8 different models. The intake cam available now that supersedes all those is the same part number, and so same profile, for all. I found a fellow on the net based in Israel who deals in new old stock and found he had an intake cam for a GSXF 600. It has a profile that enhances bottom and mid range with more lift (.3mm) than a GSXR750 cam.
I chose the cam timing to 104deg intake and 107deg exhaust to compliment the cam. I happily surfed the torque up to 5k. The motor happily sits on 2k / 40kmh, so no need to change down through roadworks or school areas. After 6.5k it really takes off, but a bit over 8.5k the show is over.
I was more than a little sad to see you ride off. Good luck and safe riding.
Tony.

Re: 2004 Bandit 1200s
Made it to Goulburn no problem, albeit with cold hands as Chris was riding the electric blanket, er, Bandit.
I did get to enjoy the ride from Goulburn to Sydney. She certainly does have lots of low down grunt. A comfy seat. Great stoppers and well sorted handling.
She really is a testament to your ability to fettle a bike, Tony.
One thing I can't believe, is how light the Original Bandit feels in comparison to the Non Bandit. I don't know where all the weight comes from, but the water cooled bike feels about 50kg heavier.
We took turns on the ride home and just outside of Newcastle, got burned by a "Bandido" bikie on his Harley, at a set of lights. He had "Bndit" number plate. We both had a chuckle as a Nan & Pop pair on touring Bandits showed him how it's done on Charlestown bends. And then a drag race at the lights, to boot. He pulled into the next servo.
