I did it too- dropped the Bandit!
Well the day after the election I went out for a fantastic ride up Macquarie Pass, Kangaroo Valley, Berry Mountain - a round trip af about 160km. I guess you're asking where did I drop the Bandit???
Coming in my driveway when I got home!
The speedo was reading 0km/h at the time.
I tell ya what though, I got up quick smart and righted the Bandit onto the stand so that no one saw me.
The only problem was a broken clutch lever end tip and a few scratches on the well place OGGY Knobs. All in all the Bandit came out of it fine!
The same can't be said about me though -
-the washup being a fracture to the neck of my femur bone,
-3 ten centimetre screws inserted into the bone,
-6 weeks on crutches with another 6 weeks on a walking stick,
-ongoing x-rays and check ups over the next 2 years to make sure the bone has healed properly with good blood flow,
-no riding the bike for 2-3 months,
-not riding to the Island for the GP
and one very frustrated and embarrased Bandit rider!!!
Anyway, all I can do is look on the bright side of the situation and polish up the Bandit until I'm back out on the road again!!!

Wow, it sounds like the Bandit went and reversed over your leg... several times! How on earth did you stand it up if you hurt yourself that badly??
It sounds like I got out of it easier afterall, even though i DID have witnesses...
You have my commiserations and sympathy, as I havent been able to get on mine for past four months, and
not sure when I will.

Bad luck mate
Maybe eat more calcium
Amazing the raffle of accidents. Rest up and you'll be back on the bike in no time.
If you get bored, my bike does need a good clean

Thanks for all your comments everyone. It puts a smile on my face.
I think OGGY knobs for myself is a great idea.
I wish I had a fantastic story about how I got so injured but it really is just so boring in that the place that I hit on my thigh was the exact outside of the hip and all the force went through to the weak point in the
bone. To try and even do it on purpose and hit that exact same point would be a skill in itself.
Look out for me at the Barry Sheene Ride start point in Bairnsdale or at the track itself as I can take an AUTO ute from work down there - I'll be the one on crutches looking extremely jealous!!!
Safe riding everyone.

Don't worry mate those screws will generally hold that hip together even better than just having just bone there. You may have to practice doing a more graceful dismount. At least its better than dropping the bike out in the middle of nowhere and busting a hip(been there done that, except for the hip). Hope all heals up well for you, and that the radiographer that xrays you is a hell of a lot prettier than me.
